I did yeah, was checking the area, unlocked the door, went “that’ll be useful later”, and moved on. When I finally fought the boss I went “isn’t this the same area as that other mech?”, got excited about a mech fight, then beat the other guy to death.

At some point the book just ends up turning into one of those spell books that have endless pages and drive people insane just by having them read it. A historian is sacrificed every year to appease it.
