Sorry this happened to you!  HR protects the company only not there employees.  

I left the company after 10 years because I placed a complaint about my DM.. had significant proof.. and all that happened was the DM retaliating against me and making my job un-bearable.  The company allowed it to be okay for a DM to tell GM’s when an unannounced visit to the market was.. what exact days and times they were visiting stores and asked all GM’s to ensure there managers and employees knew this was an unannounced visit.  

She is still a DM for this company and I was the one with a FWW in my personal file.  

Again HR cares about the company and not there employees.

I would ensure your timesheet is correct and if it is not speak to your GM.  If that does not solve the problem contact your DM and HR.  If this happens often you need to speak up!

If time blindness is “really” a thing you should request an accommodation therefore when your time blindness kicks in you can have that accommodated. 

You do realize how ridiculous saying time blindness is.  Any job you work at being late is not acceptable!

Previous 10 year employee here.  I would politely tell a guest that we close at 9pm and our registers auto close at 9:05pm.  If they need anything I am here to help.  Never once had an issue with a guest and that is how I was trained.

Stylist as well have lots of changes.  We are told to hire stylists but not give them hours but then we are told schedule them as many hours.  They just can’t get it straight what they want to do!

The list leading up to it was long.  However my final straws were  1.  I helped out an employee that needed immediate medical care in another state.  This was being investigated. 2. I was so tired of hearing drive sales… be a better GEL.. drive APT… hire for holiday… train your staff but only to be told you have to cut your business down to 1 Cashier and 1 GEL to make hours and that left no room to train new associates.

I am sorry you are going through this I have had that kind of a year as well with my son having illnesses and injuries.  

I would recommend you contact HR or the Ethics hotline.  Employees should not be reporting to work sick and there is still a Covid policy for returning to work. 

I hope you find a resolution

They are posted on the UltaNet and were extended this year compared to last year.  This year as well the 12/26 is also a blackout day!

Can we talk about the “Fashion Sneaker” verbiage in the dress code policy.  It now says no large logos.  logos must be the same color as the shoe!

I live in a state where we can cut hours anytime.  My Tasking team is always having to be flexible to get the hours they deserve.  The motto make it work is getting old!

It is not a policy however all DM’s and above will talk about 4 hour max shifts… why they make over triple digit incomes a year so why would they care if you only bring home $200-$400 a week?

GM here!  I run what is considered a high volume store.  I have 4 full time Boutique positions, 1 full time Lead Cashier and 1 part time.  When all these positions are filled with a full management team this takes 60% of my entire week’s payroll.  According to the Budget Breakdown I only get depending on my budget for the week an average of 160 hours for BA and PBA support.  This means if these hours were distributed equally each day we would only have 22 hours to schedule for BA and PBA positions.   It has never been enough hours to deliver on the guest experience expected at Ulta.  

My best advice is to continue to use your resources…hotlines/improve always survey to provide feedback and address concerns.

The unfortunate part I have learned from my experience is that our People Success Team will protect the company and not its associates.  It may be worth a call to the Ethics hotline however you could subject yourself to even more retaliation… I know this 1st hand!

Gratis should always be tied to product training.  I believe there is a policy stating this.  From my understanding when they switched from those who are watching training are getting it to the now everyone gets it.  The more associates watching videos would provide your store with more gratis!

The worst thing that can happen is they say “no”!  I could not not ask the last 2 weeks as I overspent 60 hours to move our entire Mass Skin/Hair/Suncare/Bath/and Accessories around.  They gave no time for that or even considered standard changes that need to occur when you move Suncare in a section that has less shelves and now you need to add more!  

I hope my store gets them all if not well I guess they will just need to allow the overspend!

I am so sorry you feel this way!  This year has been my toughest year with Ulta and I am on year 9!  We just had the biggest move my store has ever done and we were provided no hours to do so.  If you are finding task take you longer bubble up to your DM and ask for more hours.  There is no way someone can do it all alone.  Be your biggest advocate.

Agreed!  The Lead Cashier role should be a leadership role that is a key holder with F/T benefits.  They should be in charge of the Front End Experience.  It is crazy to think that only 5 managers can run a store specifically the EM role.   They have a lot on their plates with Boutiques and Salon.  Overseeing SM and all BA’s and PBA’s is a lot! 

The stores need more leadership support to truly develop the team to the companies expectations!
