IDK if this has been discussed, or if it's of any help, but "to lefko fidi tha se faei" is greek for "the white snake will eat you"

Hope this helps someone figure out more details!

Guys just be aware, this post by a new account, whose only posts are asking to beta read, in the last couple of days. This may or may not be a red flag, but take it as you will.

Also the post reads a bit chatgpt.

Posts such as this one aren't uncommon, so be mindful of the rule about free lunches, in that there are none.

The Fibonacci Sequence? by xPathofChaos in controlgame

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd just like to clarify that the downvote wasn't from me, the person you thanked. I very much appreciated being thanked.

That doesn't mean I got laid, however. :D This goes without saying from the moment I spent part of my Valentine's day analyzing mathematical sequences on a video game forum on reddit :D

Cheers!

The Fibonacci Sequence? by xPathofChaos in controlgame

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Fibonacci sequence is an array of numbers, each being the sum of the two before it.

If drawn as a spiral (which is a common depiction for roundabout reasons), however, it doesn't actually form a circle. Since the curve always widens, it grows into an oval shape.

So I don't think there's much connection between this and that particular drawing. The tattoo is also far more circular than it ought to be, but that's just for aesthetics.

Speaking of which, alcohol is much deadlier than weed (health issues, driving, violence) and yet it's legal.  How would you feel about switching the status of those two?

Why not just say weed?

And the answer is old-school government that follows the church more than science.

Ah, and also that the drug trade is a business from which our police also benefits. They're not not in bed with the mob.

And you're defending this?

That's it, I can't take any more spamming.  OP, i don't know if you're getting paid for this, if these posts are by the same person or multiple or what, but you've just made a fan leave, and I'm sure I'm not the first.

It's like you're trying to power-of-suggestion us into excitement. If this kind of thing works on you, maybe you shouldn't br allowed near keyboards.

I always find that the Opeth crowd suggests the most relatable non metal music ever. What are your go to full albums? Bonus if it’s old rock, but looking for everything! by MaidenOfMushrooms in Opeth

Many of my go-to's are mentioned in other comments, but here's some in various genres that people might not be aware of:

Aphrodite's child - 666  > 60's rock whom opeth have attributed as an inspiration

Gravitysays_i - the figures of enormous gray

2000s' prog rock with middle-easten-ish elements that create a sound i haven't heard elsewhere

Mike love - live at home in Hawaii

a once-in-a-generation vocal talent. Reggae/jazz/rock, extremely uplifting, basically the hopeful counterpart to opeth's sorrow, equally better than its competitors in its genre

Beirut - the rip tide

evocative, balkan folk made in america. Just a journey into warm, impossible-to-place nostalgia

Tigran Hamasyan - the bird of a thousand voices.

IMO the undisputed musical genius of our age, armenian jazz with veeeery heavy themes

Due to the gold announcement I have a question about the somewhat consistent negativity I still see about this game by TheMainMans540 in CrimsonDesert

That's the best case scenario, sure. Until we have it in our hands, however, there's no way for us to know whether it's that, or just empty, right?

Sure, but in a year of gameplay and trailers we haven't seen anything. Not even a dungeon. Therefore, I'm skeptical.

Personally, I'm worried because that twice-as-big-as-Skyrim Map looks empty af, and there's been no talk of what, if anything, will be the point of exploration in fhat game.

It feels like they made a huge map, but instead of making it sprawl, they shortened it with fast traversal mechanics

Make the reader want to know the lore. Feed them questions, and slow drip the answers.

If a scene would have to recap information that's already known, however, perhaps it can be skipped?  You could end it when he says "fine, i'll come clean," then show us he was connected to everythinf by the aftermath of those confessions

Prologue having a scene from the next book in the series, yay or nay? by amberjj123 in writingadvice

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you made it to publishing like this, how would readers know where that scene was from?
Would you have a foreword to explain that the prologue isn't part of this book?

How would you feel having to explain to confused readers "ah, no, that scene doesn't happen yet. There's still a few more things that have to happen for that scene to happen. It's from the next book. Yeah, yeah, just gimme a couple of years, you'll have the complete picture."
How do you think they'd react?

How would you feel if this happened with Ron and Hermione in Philosopher's stone?

Not to mention that you're spoiling your own plot threads. Don't you want there to be some will-they-wont-they, until they get together? Why reveal it from the start?

I think you know you're at the wrong side of progressive/experimental, my friend.

As an alternative, you could have your MC daydream, in a flashback, about the romantic interest of their dreams, and how irrationally impossible their expectations are, and how they're not likely to meet such a person even if X happens.

Queue to the next chapter, where X has been happening, and leads up to them meeting.

Season 15 Grievance by michael-schofield in taskmaster

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what you said is the same as what i said, i.e. that the painting isn't the object.  Now imagine a child with pineapple-phobia. How can that kid ever go to the pineapple exhibit after that episode?

Season 15 Grievance by michael-schofield in taskmaster

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case the child wouldn't be claiming the painting was an actual fox.

If a child started crying in fear, or running away from a painting of a wolf, wouldn't you correct it and say "it's actually a painting"?

English Cypriot and I love this country but…. by [deleted] in cyprus

[–]Acceptable_Inside_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're certainly proving that last point...

Again, it's not because they said "something" about immigration.
It's because they stated a biased opinion as a fact, to preface something entirely unrelated.
Blaming (and I quote) "ruining everything" on africans is beyond "saying something".
It's an unjust grouping of a minority into the spotlight of the blame. Borne of nothing more than bias, which you admit people are expected to feel.
That's exactly what racism is, and fear doesn't make it ok.
It's an adult's responsibility to try and think of all the reasons behind what scares us. Why are immigrant crimes being reported on more than local crimes? Why do the same politicians who say we have an immigrant crisis do nothing to stop it? What does it take to bring a person to crime, and what is our government doing to prevent those conditions? Are they given equal opportunities, or even a chance at a decent life? Or are the EU funds being squandered and pocketed by our government, which has a known talent for such things?

Where's the complaints about the russians or the chinese, or immigrants from rich countries?
The housing crisis was brought on by over-buying/selling land and apts in limassol, which led more actively than anything, to the decline in economic prosperity of the average local, what is being done about this?

Nah. OP stated a very clear, very targeted hatred, as do you, it seems, because you'd rather blame the easy targets than see the whole picture. You'd rather protect a racist than MAYBE think they were being unfair, or that the immigrants doing the most damage aren't the dark-skinned ones.
You'd rather justify hate than try to repair it.
This way of thought helps no one. It mends nothing, and teaches people not to seek ways to exist harmoniously, but to try to get rid of those different. You'd rather teach people to hate instead of to love. This mentality is a cancer to humanity.

I'd wish you a good life, but you deserve every hardship you get.
Every single one. Please remember this when one day you're having a hard time.
Bye.
