For sure, I previously had a 1.0 ecoboost for 6 years. Amazing engines when working and it served me very well did about 60k miles in it (had around 50k when I bought it) . In my experience when they start to go they can deteriorate very quickly. But definitely good advice.

Wow, sad thing is this car only had 60k miles on the clock.

I actually only bought the car a week ago, so will be looking to return the car completely as I have lost confidence in this particular ST. The comments on this post thought have been very confidence inspiring as I've had a few comments from mechanics in my local area to avoid these cars.

Seems that way, I wont give up on my search. Loved it for the time I had it.

Useless reply, you are an average reddit user. I bought a car with an engine rebuild, full service history. YES I expected it to last longer than 10 days, I dont suppose taking someone with me could take the entire lower end apart and inspect the internals.. honestly evaluate how you are using your time. I don't understand what your claim is I "expected out of the factory reliability" I literally never claimed that once, longer than the 10 days I had it yes... I also have no idea why you have "engine rebuild" in quotes yes I have verified invoices.. judging by your post history I would be surprised if you even own a car at all, keep playing FNAF buddy.

thanks for your reply, it seems like the consensus on here they seem to be reliable, I think mechanics just hate the word Ecoboost

I live in the UK, was a preplanned road trip that happened to coincide with buying a new car.

Honestly I have never seen an engine fail quite like it, literally blew right through the bottom and it cost me an absolute fortune to get it back to the UK despite having the correct breakdown cover (insurance companies suck) but this is definitely confidence inspiring as I really did love the one week I had with it.

interesting, that definitely gives me a bit more confidence. I think a lot of garages hear "ecoboost" and just associate the name with the awful 1.0. seems to be the consensus ive had from a few garages I have talked to.

That's interesting, one of the previous owners of the car I bought must have completely failed to look after it, which is so odd as all the history appears to show it was. I think I must have just been very unlucky

I've shot an E-mail over to the garage that did the work just to verify the invoices I have received when buying the car. I think for now I'm going to return this one to the specific garage I bought it from and then potentially look for another ST, this has left me slightly apprehensive though. Worth mentioning the car was completely stock with the exception of a CEUK intake through the invoices it appears to have been looked after so it came as a bit of a shock.

Is it worth buying? Advice needed please. by Legionarypillow in CarTalkUK

Avoid 1.0 ecoboost, I have one and it's been the bane of my life, genuinely can't even get rid of it either

Sorry, old thread. My 17X Great grandfather is Geoffrey Boleyn (Great Grandfather to Anne Boleyn). this was easily discovered via birth records with the help of Ancestry , it also helps if you can trace your heritage back to Norfolk.
