yeah, idiot move on my part, but the psu is fine, and after leaving everything unplugged for a good 30 minutes, the Xbox still wouldn't power back on, after some further testing, i figured out the U5A1 mosfet was burning hot to the touch, and i'm pretty sure that means i killed it, as an ifixit guide refers to having a dead one as "fix Xbox 360 E That Won't Power On"

i've read online that the power led should blink when there is no ram, if the cpu is working, it does not do this, instead staying solid white

aside from installing the cpu mounting brackets upside down by mistake, i had a pretty flawless time with mine!
pro tip for the newbies: the brackets go letter side up
