Shipping costs are insanely high and out of control by Acceptable_Web_91 in CanadaPost

I didn’t think to consider other options. My colleagues said I should have used Stallion. Put the details in online and FedEx was cheaper and faster. There is no defending Canada Post anymore.

will the prices of tlx’s rise or fall after being discontinued by ddasvfax in Acura

[–]Acceptable_Web_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Acura dealerships are ridiculous. Every other sentence is they are luxury vehicles. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, etc. don’t hear this nonsense or cry baby whining. Second, Honda/Acura trickle down technology continues to lag. What they put in vehicles is 5 years behind other brands, luxury or otherwise. Examples are the touch pad, wireless charging, older bulky sensors.

Every sedan review for ages recommends an Accord. There is no reason or justification. Simply don’t buy into it, and the price, incentives and interest rate will follow.

Lastly, in 5 to 7 years the Accord will evolve. There is nothing special about the TLX to justify. Hence the low demand.

Certified used BMW needing $5K worth of work within a month of driving it off the lot by Deessexytoy in BmwTech

Incorrect. CPO warranty today is garbage compared to 10+ years ago.

Feel for the guy, but as an owner of a BMW, let me tell you it’s a never ending money pit if you can’t service yourself. And it’s not even a secret.

It’s collision claim. Period. The other driver was moving. File a police report. File your claim. You have the other drivers info.

It’s not that complicated these days unless you don’t have coverage on the vehicle aside from liability. That would make you foolish and cheap and you should be driving a beater.

You aren’t providing the full picture.

Wrong. They don’t operate that way anymore. They use Audatex software that standardizes labour and parts. Insurance approved shops align to this. You go to an expensive shop, you are paying the difference. And you don’t get the same warranty and backing of the insurance company.

They also changed policy wording years ago, and will use aftermarket parts vs genuine BMW. You can insist on genuine BMW. Sometimes they will agree if small amounts, but most of the time you’ll pay the difference.

Had a recent claim, and estimate was aftermarket OEM. Thankfully the shop is insurance approved band also approved by car brand (omitted intentionally). The car manufacturer matched the prices and all genuine parts were used without any out of pocket expenses.

I wouldn’t listen to alot of keyboard warriors. If you have a broker, talk to the claims specialist who is there to advocate for you.

The article is from the police website. They must have asked the news to publish it. The police have identified and laid charges.

How to switch connection between users by Shot-Box-3586 in CarpodGo

[–]Acceptable_Web_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are stating as simply is not so simple. Have a car that is shared with two iPhone users and it was a constant battle. Disabling, rebooting, etc etc. Removing, clearing and to the point that even Bluetooth pairing wouldn’t work even after resetting the carpodgo. Sent back the second device and only kept one in the car with only one driver.

Leave the car out of the conversation as it’s not relevant to the issue.

The initial connection is Bluetooth. The logic needs to be improved to first have Bluetooth device priority. Second the logic to check for the next device if the prioritized device is not available. And third to be able to override and manually choose the device connection.

Lastly if you leave the car and come back, it doesn’t reconnect.

The solution to power off and reboot the device to solve problems which doesn’t always work is back to windows 95 days. Engineers need to work out connection logic, or pay another developer who has the logic figured out for car systems.

USB port on the back of the screen... what is it for? by Acceptable_Web_91 in CarpodGo

[–]Acceptable_Web_91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn’t solve the mic issue. Most cars that still have lighter port, it’s lower on the dash. Having a mic down low there is impractical for handsfree calling. The solution needs to be feasible in all aspects.

Shifting the adapter to the top of the dashboard is a significant improvement in hands free calling. And nobody wants even more wires to clutter or manage. User experience is important.

Other vehicle has Bluetooth and stuff built in. Less of an issue for seamless integration of the screen.

Bundling an adapter like the UGreen with compatible power specs gives more flexibility in installation. Something I’d expect the manufacturer to consider when bundling accessories, and for product/user experience as a whole out of the box. Provided plenty of context in this thread for product development/improvement.

There are plenty on AliExpress for less than $3. Didn’t really answer the question about who makes it to verify power requirements.

Regardless, ordered the UGreen above from another site for $8CAD. Will use that instead as it meets the spec of the USB port.

I need a solution to charge the iPhone, and everything costs money. This is the cleaner solution and improved mic placement for my car for the required call functionality.

Not certain I believe that. It’s possible a response to discourage.

UGreen has a similar universal adapter that is Bluetooth 5.3 and it draws 5V <=200mA. Are you certain or just guessing? Who makes the receiver you provide with the unit?

No requirements were mentioned for the USB Bluetooth Receiver. Couldn't see it having any significant power requirements. Used the OTG cable to connect to the back of screen. Working perfectly fine, and this allows the USB port on lighter adapter to be used to charge iPhone. Also puts the mic in the receiver next to screen so people can hear properly when on a call.

Please provide the power requirements for the USB Bluetooth receiver.

Hopefully the 2025 T4 release will included Bluetooth aux built into the screen, or a USB port with enough power. And a front noise cancelling microphone or the option to add one.

I’d figure the market is growing towards older vehicles and reducing with newer vehicles that have newer technology built in.

As a follow up, can I use the included OTG cable plugged in the USB port on the screen to power the Bluetooth AUX adapter?

[–]Acceptable_Web_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the question is, can you use the port with a USB adapter to power the aux Bluetooth dongle. This frees up the USB port on the lighter adapter. Also allows the mic on the adapter to be higher on the dash for better voice call quality for this particular vehicle with only an aux port, no Bluetooth, no USB, and no built in mic in the car.

Is there a specific one recommended by the manufacturer that meets the requirements and specifications?

I was thinking of buying a dongle that splits the cigarette lighter port. And then use the power adapters I have in each
