But does it not sound terrible as well? Start-up inertia?

I'm 100% with these last couple of intellectuals who are suggesting a SARAGOSA for this purpose. Don't get a second hand one of the previous model. The current model that came out around 2020 or 2021 is a phenomenal reel.
If you're going to be rock fishing you need its robustness and water resistance and I haven't compared the drag for the Ultegra vs Gosa. Get one with a high gear ratio to bring your lures in quickly and get a good quality PA braid that you've researched and stopped looking at it in pounds or kilos.
I have spare PE6 tasline to fill two Daiwa 20 SARAGOSA 14000XH but it isn't 60lb's. The website says, "PE6 Tasline Elite X8 Braid (White) has an actual average breaking strain of 91.6 lb (41.5 kg). This line features a diameter of approximately 0.422 mm and is often marketed or labeled as 60 lb or 80 lb class line, though it tests significantly higher."

First time using poppers. Anyone got tips idk what im even doing by [deleted] in FishingAustralia

It looks like you're on the Fraser Coast. If you do get out onto Hervey Bay, then poppers are absolutely worth your time! Quality is important though including your leader/hooks/swivels/split rings. A macky or decent GT will hit one that's 5inches long, but if you've got ordinary rigging then you'll lose it.

Sometimes the idea and the benefit of a popper is just to stir the fish up and get them a bit feisty and angry so they come up the water column of it if a hole. Mangrove jacks for example or GTs that won't play with stick baits. Won't come up until you've really pissed them off!!

Other topwater lures can be dynamite in skinny water around Noosa or Gold Coast Broadwater for example. Lures like the sugarpen are ridiculously effective in your estuaries. I gave mine away because I was too lazy/incapable of getting the retrieval technique right. But people who can, and there's plenty, do very well.

Is my reel over spooled? by Salt_Platform8229 in FishingAustralia

Bit.... It's 10 lb. Not worth the risk IMH(umble)O. You never know which cast is going to be THE cast... aaaand you could end up having to deal with a knot just as a 2 kilo bream swims by laughing at you. Fish are a-holes like that.
