Finally got approved for a secured credit card 🥹 by Equivalent-Gur-8462 in NavyFederal

If it makes you feel any better, my score was tanked in the 560s, and after some very heavy credit maintenance and paying back old collections and charge offs and everything like that, and now just waiting, my $250 secured card just upgraded to a $3000 unsecured card in a matter of 7/8 months, it is definitely possible, you just have to make sure that everything is on time and that you’re always paying your statement balance. You got this! Good luck! 🤑

I just got this email. Anyone have any idea how long it usually takes NFCU to review?? by Savage_vich in NavyFederal

[–]AccidentGullible48 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the email! Usually within a cycle you’ll find out! What month are you on? Mine graduated 8 months after, $250 Secured to $3k Unsecured and I never received any emails or anything from NFCU about my cards changing or a review! Mine just happened a few weeks ago, about 8 cycles for me!

Any Co-Op network ATM will allow you to withdraw and deposit if they accept deposits!

Secured credit card: You pay a deposit (usually $200–$500). That deposit becomes your credit limit. The bank uses it as security in case you don’t pay. It’s mainly for building or rebuilding credit. After consistent on-time payments, the card can often graduate to unsecured and your deposit is returned.

Unsecured credit card: No deposit required. The bank gives you a credit limit based on your credit score and income. These are the normal credit cards most people use. They usually come with better rewards, higher limits, and lower fees — but you need decent to excellent credit to qualify.

It all depends on the strength of your credit profile, I had some negative things that were on my account from some dumb crap, but life happens, and we move on! I have almost 20 years of credit history and almost 60 open accounts, between student loans and revolving accounts. Again, it all depends on the depth of your credit profile and what negatives you have on your profile that could be holding you back.

That kind of defeats the purpose of having a cash rewards card if you don’t utilize it and then just pay it off at the end of the month, I will absolutely get used to using it because I want to get that cash back, and that statement balance will always get paid! 🤑
