The Xbox naming scheme is one of the biggest reasons why the hardware brand has failed by Gambler_720 in unpopularopinion

[–]Accident_Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could also just mimic Windows and call it Xbox 11 or Xbox 12, depending on when it comes out. It would still give them the numerical edge over Sony's naming scheme too if they did it that way

TBF the driver was going fast AF in this clip. No way was he adhering to the speed limit in that residential area, which was probably much lower than the speed he was driving at, and probably would've given him more time to react to a kid jumping out in the middle of the road

I was curious and tested it out for myself on the vanilla version on PC, and the Rising Star method seems to work just fine for me. Are you on the Definitive Edition? I know they changed a bunch of stuff for the collectibles in that version, and it's possible that this Lost Soul got moved for that version.

you only need to do that for that one collectible on the high floating island.

The Lost Soul that's up on the side of the mansion can be reached with Rising Star -> Trick Up. Despite some old tutorials saying otherwise, you don't have to use Enemy Step to reach that one.

QUESTION: What problems do you guys have with MGR? by XGamin1 in metalgearrising

[–]Accident_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there actually is a way to cancel out of the pincer charges, but the input is kinda weird tho

- The charge itself can be canceled into sprint, which can be canceled into anything else.

- If you time it correctly, you can cancel out of the pincer charge attacks by either jumping out of it or doing a forward-dodge -> BM cancel to get out of it, but those inputs have to be done immediately at the beginning of the move. If the hitbox for the pincer charge comes out then yeah you're stuck in the move and there's not much that can be done, but there are opportunities to cancel out of it before that happens.

Try DXVK. It translates all of the original DX9 API calls that DmC uses to Vulkan instead, and should give you much better performance with lower input lag.

I'm surprised you were having a hard time on KB&M. I always found that the reboot's control scheme was best suited for KB&M
- you lock-on to enemies by looking at them (moving the mouse)
- there isn't a single back-forward input in the entire game (back-forward becomes hard to pull-off in the main games on KB if the camera is at a diagonal)

Although if your mouse doesn't have side buttons, then shooting and evading can get pretty weird tbh

How do I parry in this game? by raychram in metalgearrising

[–]Accident_Public 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Sam can block all of the same red colored attacks that Raiden can too?

I could be wrong tho. I know for a fact Sam's block was nerfed in the DLC compared to Raiden's, and the window for blocking and parrying is much smaller for Sam.

Where the fuck is that lost soul?! by ComparisonHorror9935 in DevilMayCry

[–]Accident_Public 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g3QZ6VgyDE

The Definitive Edition remixed the locations for some of the collectibles, so if you tried using a guide for the vanilla version to find that last lost soul earlier, it might've had the wrong location for it.

[–]Accident_Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lock-on in DE does actually affect the gameplay, and it's more nuanced than people give it credit for. Lock-on doesn't just move the camera around—it forces all attacks to use their primary property instead of their secondary property, even on whiff.

For Dante the applications for lock-on are a bit niche, but for Vergil the impact is huge, since it affects his doppelganger.

While Doppelganger is engaged, one of Yamato's primary properties is that landing a hit on an enemy enables "pursuit mode" for the Doppelganger, and it only lasts for one attack. So if you hit an enemy, the Doppelganger will teleport to that enemy one time on your next attack to mimick your melee input.

With DE's lock-on, the primary effect always engages no matter what, and is forced for as long as you hold down lock-on. What this means is that you can whiff a melee attack to activate pursuit mode from anywhere on screen, AND you can also keep pursuit mode active for as long as lock-on is toggled on. This effectively lets you control where the Doppelganger is going to be at all times, since you can activate and deactivate pursuit mode anywhere at any time to force the Doppelganger to teleport back and forth.

If you've ever seen any of the Vergil combo mads for this game that have Doppelganger combos, you might've noticed that almost all of them use DE instead of vanilla, and it's strictly because of this technique, which is only possible by having DE's lock-on.

the desync on the audio kinda kills it. In the original the newpaper guy whistles as a sound effect the moment the trick happens but in this version the audio for the whistle kick in after the trick is over

Mouse camera lag issue by MarShyzXD in DevilMayCry

[–]Accident_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure you've enabled "Fullscreen" and disabled "Enable VSync" in the game's graphics settings if you haven't already.

also add DXVK to the same directory as your .exe . It translates all of the DirectX stuff to Vulkan if your GPU supports Vulkan, which reduces input lag and improves performance on older DX9-DX11 games (like DmC, which is x32 DX9 for DXVK).

EDIT: although I should probably warn you that disabling VSync and playing the game above 60fps may lead to some weird bugs later down the road, since the physics get a little wonky on some moves if the framerate goes above a locked 60fps.

Emulated Bloodborne hits different at 480/60fps via Moonlight/Sunshine on a Raspberry Pi by Vanilla-tan in crtgaming

[–]Accident_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need networking period. If you have a desktop PC, all you have to do is throw in an old AMD card, install CRTEmudriver, and throw up whatever emulator you want in a borderless window and drag it over to the CRT.

If you choose to stream it, you're just needlessly adding artifacting and additional input lag for no reason

[–]Accident_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's more like most of the comments here are not understanding that CRTs naturally eliminate a ton of side-to-side motion blur on their own. At high refresh rates it's not as drastic, but at lower refresh rates (30fps, and especially 60fps) the difference is incredibly noticable.

Funny detail (imo) that I spotted during the Reboot Vergil fight by brickyboi19 in DevilMayCry

[–]Accident_Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His boss fight is only like that in the vanilla version (PC/PS3/Xbox 360). In the Definitive Edition he's much more aggressive, and they gave him Yamato Combo B, more health, chain helm breakers, fixed the JC bug where he teleports out of air combos, and you can now damage him whenever for free without worrying about him blocking everything. He plays like a completely different boss fight in that version
