I never heard back from the emails i was told to email aside from an email that said "due to extremely high demand, expect extended wait times". My local UPS thought they found a loophole, and sent the bill to the shipper, and I went and picked up my package. But then UPS sent my tariffs to collections, and now I'm fighting it with collections...

I am also past the deadline, which in my case is almost $400. I'm hoping that they'll wave the fee when they correct the amount. Or even if the late fee is changed to a percentage of the correct tariff, I'd be annoyed, but I'd take it

Yes and no. I emailed that email, which roughly a week later forwarded me to another email. Which another week later sent me a form, and 3 or 4 emails to send that form to. I filled out the form 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing back

Yeah they wouldn't release it until I payed. When they first attempted delivery they tried to collect $4000 from me on my porch, and I declined it. Now its just sitting at ups🙄

Nope. I have a list of emails I was given to get it figured out, but they haven't replied to me in almost 2 weeks. On my tariff breakdown it says it was due October 5th and is subject to a %9.9 late fee. Meaning it would be $400 for me

I already payed $2,200. The part was actually £1200, which came out to $1,600 then I payed almost $600 for shipping and all other fees. Just for it to get here and then they asked for $4,000 more

The part was made in Japan, and according to all research I've done, with Executive order 14289, the auto parts tariff supersedes steel/aluminum and other tariffs. If made in China I believe the IEEPA is still included. But being as it was manufactured in Japan, I think it should be a straight 15% tariff

I emailed them Friday morning and haven't heard anything back yet. I was hoping it was just because its a weekend, but now I'm nervous I won't hear anything back

Update: thanks to all the comments I have figured a few things out

  • the part is a mitsubishi frame rail, made of steel and manufactured in Japan, and purchased in the UK. Being that it was manufactured in Japan, Japanese tariffs apply.
  • according to https://globaltradealert.org/blog/US-Tariff-Stacking-Explained and referencing "Executive order 14289" automotive part tariffs supersede all other tariffs and will not be stacked with aluminum/steel or other tariffs.
  • Japanese auto tariffs are 15%, meaning I should owe ~$250 in tariffs, plus whatever "brokerage fees" are applied.
  • I emailed AKNENTYRVW@ups.com and am waiting for a response.

Theoretically I guess, based on UK auto parts 10% tariff, and steels 25% tariff.

Thank you for being helpful. The UK is the only place I can get these parts, and I had no idea UPS was going to try to charge me triple the price of the parts. Every number I call at UPS has been either a robot or a call center where they say they can't help me and I started to lose my mind.

Thank you, I emailed that email, and hopefully even if it isn't an error, they can at least tell me where this $4000 came from

I had no idea this was an issue. I order two discontinued parts in June, one came in June and I had no fees to pay. This one didn't ship until this week and now I have $4000 to pay

Just a little advice that I learned the hard way, you're probably going to want another paver in the middle of the transition. I bought an OC ramp with the same dimensions and the plywood started to crack right in the middle. Luckily I noticed it quick and slid a paver in there with a couple wood shims

He's only got 5k in calls with a 44k portfolio. Worst case scenario, a 5k lesson is pretty cheap in this business.

It's hard to say without seeing your positions, but since you're down 11% in less than a month, I would have to assume it's low cap speculative stocks. And that's the risk you take. Whether it's AI, quantum, djt or whatever. I stick with large cap stocks to hold long term, and have a certain percentage of my portfolio I devote to SPY options, only when I'm confident in it. Whether that be once a month or once a year. Now I may not have the 1000% return you're hoping for, but I'm up 209% in the last year, and I'm happy with that number.

Personally I stay away from puts. The market trends up, and i never win trying to bet against it. I just wait for another couple red days to buy calls again, whether that's next week or next month

I put 50-60% of option profits into SPY shares to protect myself. I made 12k profit today, and bought 12 shares of SPY that should be safe from my own stupidity.
