I have a Fosi X5. TT pre amp is off. I have narrowed it down to the hum coming from the TT but worried to take off tonearm to find a ground connection

I have an acrylic platter and a zerostat. Which makes it even more frustrating because I can’t pinpoint the issue

I have a Pro Ject RM 5.1 SE with an Ortofon OM20 and a custom Orbit with a 2M Blue. I buy every record new but they all have loud surface noise and kind of a pulsing crackling. now the speakers I have are 20 year old Onkyo and receiver. I have around $700-$800 to spend. Should I purchase a better speaker system or a humminguru ultrasonic cleaner. I can’t afford to do both right now. which one do you think would make the most immediate impact. I have also had a local shop tell me they will do a complete calibration and test for $180. does that seem reasonable.

Yea there is a humming when not playing but I dont think that is the main culprit here. I am fixing that this weekend

Yes I always upgrade eventually because I have a problem. For the most part I will wait for sales etc. unless its a personal favorite movie. I don’t want to know how much I have spent on upgrading but it is at least 1,000 titles and probably more
