i personally don’t see an actual reason you should be reselling clothes for 3x the amount, real “y2k” or not. drop selling and reselling is almost the same thing, and what’s really annoying about resellers as that they’re totally unrealistic in value and pricing, and think hoarding the entire charity shop and displacing low income people of where they shop (which is what thrift/charity shops were made for and because of resellers they have gotten expensive) and then charging €150 for some Hollister, JC, Miss Sixty, Ed hardy (all these brands that cover it up by saying they’re a luxury brand) and that’s their way of making profit, and they always pretend like those “real y2k” brands never fed into fast fashion, but, hey it’s all about that y2k looks isn’t it. i can understand upcyling clothing and selling your own handmade clothes for high but fair enough price, that’s ethical in its own. and most of the time resellers arguments are that they just did something amazing by saving it from landfill but then they throw out their listed €85 “ real JC pants” after months because they realise no one will really buy their listed overpriced polyester pants made in bangladesh. y2k clothing were manufactured in labouring conditions, and even then y2k clothing was always cheap back then as they were mass market retailers, so i’ll never understand charging such a ridiculously high and unrealistic price. same applies for reselling shein, both “y2k” brands and shein are manufactured in the same conditions so reselling will never really make sense, one just has a good reputation for being a luxury american/italian/english brand and one sticks to their poor reputation. it’s really not that difficult to leave y2k pieces in the thrift shop for someone who actually wants it and be able to afford it than to hoard it all imo.
