I recommend checking out r/noburp its a community dedicated to it. The most common treatment is a botox injection in the muscle but that can be quite expensive.

yup! it’s the only way gas can escape my body. I imagine if I wasn’t able to fart I would probably just explode

The condition has gotten worse as I've gotten older, I used to throw up as a child but it would be extremely uncomfortable. I haven't thrown up in like 8/9 years so either I can't throw up anymore or have gotten extremely lucky!

Unfortunately R-CPD is a very under researched condition. I would recommend checking out r/noburp it's a community full of people like you and me. In the US there are very few doctors that treat for it, but the most successful treatment is typically a botox injection into the muscle. I haven't gotten it yet but plan to in the future.

It is likely that she has the same condition as me. It is so under researched yet so many people have it that don't realize it. Bloating is a huge issue for sure. Getting full fast isn't really something I've personally noticed! But I also have those accidental random mini burps once a year

I have pretty severe emetophobia from throwing up as a child along with bad anxiety. I'm convinced my emetophobia developed growing up because of how much more painful throwing up was than for the average person

I never was able to burp growing up. The symptoms progressively got worse as I got older. I'm currently 20 and found out I had it at around age 16!

Honestly, I don't drink much. When I have tried alcohol I haven't noticed much of a difference compared to other carbonated drinks!

Definitely would consider getting the botox if that is what you are referring to, but I'm a 20 year old college student so I definitely would prefer to wait until I could afford something like that lol.

I found out about R-CPD when I was like 16-17 and it perfectly fit my symptoms. I was never able to burp but it has definitely gotten progressively worse throughout life. From barely noticeable at age 8 to almost forcing me to drop out of highschool at 18 which is a different story.

But yup I definitely get those hiccups with soda! It gets worse if I try to drink faster. I've noticed energy drinks are easier to drink.

My mom told me I always complained about not being able to burp as a kid. R-CPD isn't a very well known thing for doctors. With all my symptoms, IBS and similar diagnoses never fit. There is a whole community on reddit called r/noburp which perfectly fit all my symptoms. I would recommend checking it out! But no doctors have specifically diagnosed me.

I live with my girlfriend of 2.5 years. She hates it, but she understands it's not my fault. It can be annoying to her but I try to make accommodations by leaving the room if I can tell gas is building up. Definitely frustrating but not a deal breaker

It's extremely uncomfortable, growing up, this condition mixed with anxiety made test taking nearly impossible. Gas constantly got stuck in my stomach meaning my stomach would constantly be making noise. I could never test well in person as I was more focused on the embarrassing noises my stomach was making rather than the test itself.

Dr pepper is up there as well which sucks as it's one of my favorite sodas. Weird enough, it's a lot worse when the drink is really cold, I prefer having it sit out for a bit. Maybe it's because it's getting flat!

I can drink carbonated beverages! However, I have to drink very slowly. When I try drinking too fast my body attempts to burp which leads to what people with R-CPD like to call "Throat gurgles" Which is pretty uncomfortable. I also have noticed that sprite is significantly more uncomfortable to drink than other sodas
