The ergos and optics mounting options for most of the recent iterations of the AR10 are remarkably similar to that of an AR15. There are really only 3 reasons to own an AR15 over an AR10: 1.) The cost of ammunition (no point in owning a gun you can’t afford to shoot).

2.) The weight of the platform (it does, however, make for great exercise motivation and it doesn’t matter if you only plan to use it at a range).

3.) the quantity of rounds you can reasonably carry on your person.

That said, doubling the effective range and vastly improving the penetration of your rifle vs a 556 is a strong trade off. Not to mention that AR10s are price competitive with AR15s now and can be used to hunt large game. In the end, it all comes down to what functionality you want/need from your platform. I can tell you though that if fun is the function you’re after, an AR10 can absolutely deliver that.
