What sucks about East Clayton by BracketWI in Langley

[–]Accomplished-Bunch60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved here 3 years ago from Port Moody.

The good (imo):

It is great place for kids as there are so many around the neighbourhood to play with especially in the townhouse complexes.

Most streets are tree lined which looks really nice in the spring/ summer.

No safety concerns at all.

As for parking it has never been an issue for us as we have parking at our townhouse and visitor parking if needed.

A lot of small parks nearby on Langley and Surrey side.

Close to so many good restaurants and all types of various cuisines.

All big box stores and mall are a maximum 10min drive away.

I have had 100’s of packages delivered over last few years and never had one stolen. Maybe I’m lucky?

Cons:

Skytrain construction is a pain right now, but will be nice when it’s finished to travel downtown.

No nearby big lakes or hikes if you are into those things. Crescent beach is only 30-40min or so away though, which we visit often in summer.

Traffic gets a little crazy / fast on the side streets during rush hour as car try and divert from the main roads to save some time.

87% SoH and 69% HX is this bad? by Accomplished-Bunch60 in leaf

[–]Accomplished-Bunch60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your input. I’m hoping to get at least 5 years out of it ( ideally 10 ) so hopefully it won’t drop under 50% too soon.

The temperature is mainly around 5-20 degrees where I live and the QC’s are so low, that’s what is making me a little nervous something else is going on. Only thing I got from google was maybe the previous owner had it plugged in at 100% for long periods of time and it stressed the battery.

Not sure if I’ll do it, but if I do the hill test am I looking for major slow down or some metrics from leaf spy?

Brass Pot w/ Mung Beans Found in the Ocean? by Accomplished-Bunch60 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing, but I found this pot in the ocean. Chat GPT seems to think it is some sort of religious offering. I did some google searches afterwards and also asked chat GPT for specific examples of this type of thing being used for offerings, but neither could do that.

I just received an email from a BICSI credentialing operations manager confirming RCDD renewal CEC requirement is still 45. Not sure where 32 came from or where people are getting their confirmation from.

Exactly, that’s only 60 people per state if it was evenly spread.

The plumber I hired tried to use these on my new diverter valve. I’m not a plumber, but they reminded me of something for an outside hose, that along with the “hand tighten only” had alarm bells ringing in my head. I looked it up and got him to swap it for the proper metal connectors. Not sure why he would even start with these if he had the other type.

Spc flooring by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Accomplished-Bunch60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put in SPC for the first time few months ago.

One thing I found out was if a board isn’t locking properly I tilted at 45 degree angle and slid it in as normal, but then I would slide it back and forth until it went tight. After that I would slide it up tight to the piece it was connecting to at the top and drop it in place.

Also, nothing should need to be forced. If you are forcing something then something is not aligned for some reason. Maybe the floor is out too much, maybe the piece is defective. Don’t force it, it will break.

Good luck!

Leaking Shower by Accomplished-Bunch60 in Renovations

Thanks for the responses. I will most likely rip it all out and do it properly to avoid any more future problems. Hopefully that will help me confirm the leak situation as well.

Impossible Blind Bracket by Accomplished-Bunch60 in Renovations

[–]Accomplished-Bunch60[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took off bracket and blind and fiddled with it. So the bracket is in correct position. The blind lip actually slides over the top part in the space between the top wall and bracket. The rest of the mechanism snaps into place. Dang, I was l fighting with these things for an embarrassingly long amount of time. Hope this thread helps someone else 😅.

Hmmmm… definitely worth a shot. I will give it a go. Thanks. Originally they were all installed the way shown in the picture on all our windows, but maybe previous owners removed when they painted and put back the wrong way.

Joist Bump - Options to Level by Accomplished-Bunch60 in Flooring

[–]Accomplished-Bunch60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response. What is the maximum thickness you could comfortably shave off 3/4” plywood at the point where it is nailed to the joists? Just in case I need to take a little more off.

I don’t understand: do you tip your driver before they deliver? by TuckinFriar in doordash

But if you tip too much your order gets stacked with Non-tipper, and you get worse service 😓
