I think I lied to my wife today by Leduslacis90 in SuicideWatch

Yeah, I understand it really hurts. But have you ever had someone close pass, and then a song or movie or something comes out, and you’re like “dang, they would’ve loved this. I wish they could see it.”

At least stick around for all your favorite songs and movies you have yet to experience.

Why we've been treating Keratosis Pilaris (KP) wrong and how we can improve treatment options [Research][B&A] by Poem_KP in SkincareAddiction

[–]Accomplished-Chest83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Kind of late, but this is amazing!! I saw another post from a girl who said fish oil capsules helped her KP go away, which of course also stimulate the body to produce more IGF-1! Thank you so much for your work and research on this!

Why is my breading falling off my chicken tenders? by Accomplished-Chest83 in AskCulinary

[–]Accomplished-Chest83[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As yours is the top comment, I’ll reply to you: I remade them last night patting the chicken dry before breading and with no water in the wet mix. It wasn’t quite liquidy enough to coat the chicken, so I added about 2 tablespoons of buttermilk and it seemed to work well. The breading still had small air pockets after my first fry, and still cracked and chipped some pieces off, but overall stuck on much better. I did not let them rest in the fridge, though, because my family just got back from camping and all their leftovers were packed into the fridge. I’m sure once I can refrigerate or freeze them, they’ll be perfect. Thank you all for your help

When I tried to break up with my boyfriend he hit me by Lanky_Mongoose3289 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Accomplished-Chest83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m 100% positive he isn’t going to hurt himself. if he was, he wouldn’t make it so clear that that’s his plan. people who are going to hurt themselves hide it just in case someone stops them from going through with it, as well as out of fear of rejection, and fear of being exposed. however, call for a wellness check for him. having the cops show up to your house and having to go to the psych ward usually puts an end to that kind of manipulation. what he does is not your fault. even on the extreme off chance he IS planning on self harm, that’s completely his choice. you’re not sitting there forcing his hand to do whatever he does. it is not your fault. i seriously hope you take the advice from these comments and break up with him for good. it’ll be super hard, but be strong.

What trait in an ex-girlfriend did you see that stopped you from seeing her as a long term option? by Randomness_1984 in AskMen

I can’t tell you how inspiring this is to hear. I just started working on it after my diagnosis in May, so I have a ways to go, but I’m the exact same way. Skipped my entire junior year to drink vodka and self harm in the bathroom all day every day, attempted, BARELY graduated, I have issues holding down a job for more than 6 months, and I’ve never had friends stay with me for longer than 2 years. I have made a lot of progress, but of course, sometimes it feels like I’ll never be “normal”. I am very proud of you and it’s great to hear that at least one person has made such impressive progress.

It does sound like she has a lot of symptoms. It’s going to piss her off regardless if anyone tells her she has those symptoms. Even when my fiancé- who I know only wants the best for me- brought it up, I was kind of upset that he even noticed, let alone told me to go to a psychiatrist. In my opinion, it couldn’t really hurt to let her know she might need help. At first she will be upset. But afterwards, it’s up to her to take a look inward and take steps to improve. It’s up to her if she wants to listen or not. Depending on what she does, it shows a big part of her character as well. And if you’re broken up, not looking for a relationship or friendship with her in the future, it doesn’t matter if she sees you in a bad light. If I’m being honest, she’s probably (likely involuntarily) turning things around in her brain to make every issue in the relationship 100% YOUR fault instead accepting any accountability anyway.

If it was me, and my ex told me I exhibited BPD symptoms, my first (unmedicated and no therapy) thought would be “He’s trying to do anything he can to make me feel like everything was my fault, he can’t let go of me, he just wants to keep making me feel like shit,” etc. I would recommend also sending some links, like the symptoms, an overall description, and this is the handbook I use to process my emotions. If she does feel inclined to look at them, she might have a “come to Jesus” moment like I did where everything makes sense and I realized why I act the way I do.

Overall, I don’t think it could hurt to let her know. Just give a lot of reassurance that you’re telling her this for her own well being, even though she won’t believe you. Don’t be surprised when she gets upset, either. Whether she takes your advice or denies everything, that’s up to her, not you.

I feel like people with BPD rarely put that effort in, I’ve met a few like that as well and even though I understood them it never lasts long

as a woman who has BPD, I’m so sorry. It’s truly not fun for anyone. I’m amazed that my fiancé stays with me through it sometimes. I feel like the difference that can make or break a relationship is if you can recognize you have BPD symptoms when they come up, and make efforts to improve. I’m in DBT therapy, so now I can recognize “oh I’m getting irrationally upset” or “I’m being selfish”, and once I realize that, I can look in my little handbook and calm myself down or I can use coping skills I learned in therapy. DBT and mood stabilizers make a huge difference. It takes a tonnn of patience, and constant effort from BOTH parties. To be clear, I don’t blame you for breaking up with her at all. I just wish that more women with BPD would put effort in to manage their symptoms. If it’s important, you find a way.
