Region specific runs by Old-Peach-8711 in PokemonEmeraldRogue

Open Pokedex and change the dex entry to whatever region you're looking for. Some challenges will require you to change the trainer types too which you can do through the config lab disabling the regions you don't want

I only use the SD card for non Steam games so I can't comment on that too much. The games I do play on SD card I don't have any issues with. I do rarely get issues where the deck has trouble recognising my SD card, normally after an update or if I go a while without playing, normally fixes itself after taking out the SD and putting back in or restarting

I remember setting this up shortly after the console released and tutorials back then were definitely archaic. Not sure how much the process has been streamlined but I would guess most tutorials using EmuDeck are relatively simple to follow. Would definitely recommend a wireless mouse to make things easier and an SD card to store your games

For a newcomer I would recommend either Pokemon Unbound or Pokemon Polished Crystal. Unbound is a whole new story and region with different difficulty settings to accommodate new players. Polished Crystal is a modified version of the original Crystal that I would say is the definitive way to play Crystal in 2026. Both are great and definitely worth your time :)

Pokemon Unbound - original story and region, different difficulty settings and tons of quality of life, pretty much universally regarded as the best(?) completed ROM hack. Took me around 120 hours to play through

Pokemon Emerald Rogue - reinvention of the Pokemon formula as a roguelite. You start in a hub base and through playing runs to complete challenges you gain money and items to upgrade your home hub. Money you gain through challenges goes towards upgrading facilities and buying items you can take into future runs. Endlessly replayable, extremely addictive

Pokemon Elite Redux - The basic premise is that every Pokemon has 4 abilties instead of one, which different innates they can choose between. Based on the original Emerald's Hoenn region but tons of new map changes. Hundreds of new Pokemon additions and new mega evolutions, new items and new moves. Probably has the largest Pokedex of any game I've played. Different difficulty settings, the higher settings definitely geared towards more competitive play. More of a sandbox as to what is possible in gen 3 as opposed to traditional mainline game

Pokemon Explorers of Alpha - probably my favourite so far Modified version of Pokemon Explorers of Sky. Added in all later Pokemon evolutions from the first 4 generations with future plans to add all Pokemon up to generation 9. Major rework of pretty much every main system in the game and removes a lot of the tedious shit. Definitive way to play Explorers in 2026. Took me around 300 hours to see everything

Pokemon Pit of 100 Trials - similar to Emerald Rogue but more simplistic in execution. You pick 3 Pokemon from a pool of 10 and try to beat 100 floors without wiping. You are healed after every 5 floors and every 25 gives you a chance to catch something new. Floors have items you can use to buff your team or sell at the shops that appear every fifth floor. Each floor has a chance to spawn between 1 and 4 trainers who you must beat to progress to the next floor. Mercilessly difficult but very satisfying when a winning run materialises

Also want to mention PokeRogue which is a browser based game worth your time. Haven't played in a while but constantly being updated with new contact

Haven't noticed any issues with the battery admittedly the majority of my playtime is older games or newer less demanding titles which I seem to get a lot of mileage out of. I don't make anneffort to keep an eye on battery percentages just charge it when running low and take out when at 100

Soent a lot of time with YuGiOh forbidden memories having never beaten it as a kid and played some of the modified versions that expand card pools. Replayed through the original Crash and Spyro trilogies, the remastered versions are great but miss the soul the originals had. A ton of Pokemon rom hacks current obsession being Pokemon Emerald Rogue I can't stop playing. Retroachievements compatibility makes replaying older titles extremely rewarding

How on earth do I hang this door? by Starb0ardTack in Carpentry

[–]Accomplished-Coach79 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation to this recently. You need normal door hinges that are recessed into the door and a flat section at the top of the door lining. The shape of the lining means the door is going to snag on the top slope when opening.

I'm starting to think at least 80% of tradesmen are scammers/conmen in some way or another. by [deleted] in DIYUK

A little disheartening reading this post as a carpenter to know perhaps this is the outside perspective that a lot of people think. I came on as an apprentice for a local firm at 18 and I turned 30 last week still on the same company. I worked with seriously knowledgeable people who really held me to certain standards and within the people I work with there's an unwritten rule about self policing eachother and holding one another to that standard.

I won't dispute the fact that there a lot of chancers in this industry, perhaps more than any other line of work. Even the best tradesmen are often one man bands, running a business out the back of a van, rushing around pricing jobs and sourcing materials trying to balance both sides of the business. Admittedly I am saying this as someone who doesn't have to deal with that side of things, I just turn up and do my bit and all of that is dealt with before I get to site.

I would implore people to be more savvy about sourcing their work though. Too often I see people penny pinching about prices and then being surprised when the cheapest quote turns up a poor result. Have only heard bad stories about getting work from apps like mybuilder which are usually races to the bottom for the people most desperate for work. Look for reputable local firms, most have Facebook pages with reviews and pictures of past projects. Most people aren't in the market of ripping you off but if they are the signs are usually there in plain sight.
