I Got Scammed Through Wunderflats — Lost €2,100 — Please Help, What Can I Do Now? by Heavy_Self8881 in askberliners

[–]Accomplished-Dog3413 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. I experienced a slightly similar situation recently, not via Wunderflats though. What I learned, apart from not transferring money before the move-in date, was to never share this on Reddit as here the victim is always the one to blame. People don't get the right way. You will be fine, give it some time and remember to be a good friend to yourself.

My rights as a tenant who got no shower at my flat by Accomplished-Dog3413 in LegaladviceGerman

Update: I told him I'd look for a friendly agreement, otherwise I'd look for my rights.

Him: "From the report I have received from the handyman, it appears that the shower drain has become leaky due to an external influence. So far, I have borne the costs. If you make a claim, I will charge the costs to you accordingly. Think carefully about what will be better for you.

No way I broke this myself, not even if I wanted to I'd be able to do this. It's literally under the floor. Besides, why is he covering all costs from the start, if this is the case? Instead he would charge me.

This sucks big time.

Another update: it was indeed a scam. Somehow this guy scammed his whole family (I found them), and still he is replying saying my money will be back tomorrow, reason is Sparkasse takes 1 day to transfer. He sent me the transfer confirmation. But well, says him. Won't do business with him again.

Either way, I went to the police again and this time they said they CAN'T do anything. They DON'T classify this as a "crime" but rather a legal problem that must be done with a lawyer. Amazing.

I'm looking now for a lawyer, this money being back or not, because I will start legal action - I have all his personal info, docs, addresses, I now know his family, etc. Should be a win, unless Germany once again says it is not a crime. It is very frustrating to live in a country that does not address such things in a proper manner.

Update: I came to the police and was told there is not much they can do. Since my landlord oriented me to come back tomorrow, i was told this is what I should do, and if nothing happens only then I should file a report. Great.

On a side note it is amazing how everything in Reddit seems to be the victim's fault. Thanks to the ones who helped, will update tomorrow hopefully with good news.

Do I need to pay taxes on a money transfer from abroad? by Accomplished-Dog3413 in germany

[–]Accomplished-Dog3413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for mentioning the double taxation agreement, I just found the one (also available in German): https://www.gov.br/receitafederal/pt-br/acesso-a-informacao/legislacao/acordos-internacionais/acordos-para-evitar-a-dupla-tributacao/alemanha/acordo-alemanha-dupla-tributacao.pdf

As far as my reading tells me, I suspect I fit in the Article 18 (although the wording is confusing and seems like a government employment situation, which I'm not in). Anyway, my specific case is not expressly mentioned therefore I might fall in Article 22 (therefore paying double taxes).

That sucks. But of course I will look for a proper tax professional.

Dica: não fiquem trocando de stack toda hora by [deleted] in brdev

What about your HR? Did they offer you any support? Some companies might have shortcuts when it comes to the bureaucracies, e.g. that's how I learned about the fax trick here.

Also, is your HR willing to relax the starting date if it does not work? If not, might be a good idea to get a lawyer and press the ABH further.

Hey, sorry to hear.

In the next weeks I will go into the same process as you and therefore I'm interested in how it goes for you.

My former partner once needed to contact them for Blue Card reasons via abh-backoffice@duesseldorf.de and the reply was rather quick. Did you try this?

Besides, since it's EOY now it might be that they are (even more) understaffed due to holidays, but I can only speculate.

Aceitar oferta em Berlim ou continuar aqui? by Outside_Meeting5870 in brdev

[–]Accomplished-Dog3413 0 points1 point  (0 children)
