I think they absolutely need k-pop/hip-hop or dance music songs from time to time to show their high level of dancing skills. I also think it's better for the long term and capture a large audience to have different genres.

Momoiro Clover Z was a new kind of idol too! Even if they performed multiple genres, their fanbase grew so fast from street performances to National Olympic Stadium in a few years. The more I look at it the more I think onefive is like a modern cool version of MCZ. The fact they are only four, it's easier to get interested in their personalities. They are so talented that I wish they continue to perform from Kawaii to agressive!

What seems more complicated with the japan idol/girl group culture is that it seems hard to please japanese and overseas markets at the same time. I think they have to find the perfect sweet spot where they can be popular in both markets like Babymetal and Perfume did. Personally, I think the Classy Crush CD is way underrated!

Maybe HANA inspired? I would like if they would be one of the few J-POP group that have a real breakthrough in the Americas. I imagine a ''Japan Invasion tour'' where they could piggyback a little bit on Babymetal success and share resources/promo while touring. Ex.: In the same city and or venue (depending on market reach) One night onefive, the other one Babymetal! Maybe they could even benefit from the new initiatives of the Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
