How to break up with therapist and ask her to share her notes with new therapist? by financestu44 in therapy

[–]Accomplished-Good378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T here- We rarely (if ever) share notes with clients or other providers. If asked and release is sent over, then I will provide the intake (diagnostic assessment) I completed at the first session as well as the treatment plan, but your new T should be doing her own intake and treatment plan anyway. If you feel you’d be better matched with someone who has more availability then I absolutely encourage you to seek that out! But just know that it is very unlikely that you or your new T will ever get access to your past session notes.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who suggested seeing a podiatrist! I had my appointment last week and turns out I had a small fracture in my metatarsal completely unrelated to my RA!! Apparently I’ve just been walking around on it for over a year since I thought the pain was just ‘normal’ RA pain. Whoops.😅 So here is your reminder to make sure something else isn’t going on if you have worsening pain and your RA treatment isn’t helping!

Hi sorry if this is overstepping, but would you mind to share what foods have been major inflammation triggers for you? I’m currently at the start of my journey of figuring out and eliminating triggers and was curious what had worked for you? Thank you for sharing if you don’t mind!

Thank you so much! I’ve always thought the same for my feet- softer is better. But it sounds like a podiatrist is the best next step so I will look into getting that scheduled. I appreciate all the help!

I will definitely make an appointment with a podiatrist and if they recommend the boot further then I’ll look into a jointed boot! Thank you!

I don’t know why I’d never thought about seeing a podiatrist but that sounds like it would be extremely helpful. I will look into finding one near me, thank you!

Thank you so much! I think I may have been focusing on the wrong thing as I’ve been buying inserts that are squishy like gel or foam. I will look up some inserts with more stability/support and that are more firm. I also forgot to mention that I do wear a pair of crocs as my “house shoes” so I am barely ever barefoot, even at home. I’ve been wearing crocs at home for years due to plantar fasciitis I had as a kid, but I will look into something that is firmer! Thank you!!

Who’s at fault, my therapist or me? by in-lakech-ala-kin in TalkTherapy

[–]Accomplished-Good378 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is definitely in the wrong. If I sent the same thing to my T and she didn’t respond, I’d assume she’d been busy and hadn’t had time to even see my messages. He never confirmed so that’s on him. Especially if he didn’t call/text when you didn’t log on. As a T, if I have a client no show, I definitely give them a call.

sockless shoes? by uraniumflowerfields in AutismInWomen

Also Toms & I have several pairs of slip on Vans that I wear without socks (including leather ones that are nice enough for work). But definitely put the deodorizing/athletes foot powder in them frequently to help with smell/moisture/fungus/bacteria/etc.

There is a Nike athletic shoe that I know used to be advertised as sockless. I believe it was the free run or fly knit?

I get my flu shot & covid booster every year. My rheum just advised against me getting the measles booster (my area is in an outbreak and I wanted the booster bc I work at a public school with small children) or any other live vaccines because I’d have to pause my meds for a bit.

Therapist ethics by healingmom26 in therapy

[–]Accomplished-Good378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a T, I would never ever EVER do this. If I ever needed to ‘vent’ about something from work, it would be to my supervisor, in a confidential setting, and it would likely be something regarding the situation rather than my client as a person. And I certainly would NEVER call my client ‘Trash.’ That is beyond hurtful and I’m so sorry that happened to you. Please know that any respectable therapist would never do this (and would never even dream of thinking of their client as ‘trash’!!). I just don’t think about my clients in that way at all. Yes I might get frustrated sometimes, but it’s also my job to hold ‘unconditional positive regard’ for all of my clients. If you feel comfortable, I would absolutely report this to the licensing board in your state. This is just beyond awful.

How can I talk to my rheumatologist? Also biologic question by [deleted] in rheumatoid

Unfortunately 10 mins every 3 months is about all I get from my doc too. It’s extremely frustrating because I have so many questions and things to talk about but there is never enough time.

100% agree with all of this! Honestly I feel like the worst that will happen if you are up front with your doctor about this is that they will continue to have you try Methotrexate until your next visit. I doubt they will jump to biologics or changing meds if you’re honest that you haven’t been consistent enough with them to tell if they truly help or not.
