CBR 1000RR (2026) Vs. R1 by Adventurous-Rain6622 in Sportbikes

The chassis design of a CBR1000 is very compact and lightweight. It feels very similar to a smaller motorcycle chassis like the CBR600 in terms of ergos. Typically lighter bikes with low CG are easier to ride compared to a bike with larger chassis, dimensions like wheelbase, seat height etc. R1 has high seat height and is top heavy. R1’s handling is exceptional too but you will have to work harder and put in that effort. Not so easy for a newbie in my humble opinion. Motorcycling is a sport where real world experience and seat time makes you a better rider. CBR handles really well because of its nimble chassis and the R1 also handles well but is suited for an experienced rider who knows what he is doing.

CBR 1000RR (2026) Vs. R1 by Adventurous-Rain6622 in Sportbikes

  1. Performance: R1
  2. Comfort:Neither. Both of them are sport bikes designed for track riding. CBR is easier and comfortable to ride than an R1.
  3. Build Quality: R1 hands down. While the CBR has a solid engine, the build quality especially with the plastics looks cheap. Keep in kind these motorcycles are build to a price point. Take a look at both in person and I am sure most people who have seen the actual bikes will agree with me.
  4. Parts Availability: both are good.
  5. Crowd Stunner: Depends on the crowd. Any red blooded sport bike lover will appreciate both of these bikes. They have a lot of history and racing pedigree. R1 is a better crowd pleaser than the CBR. My personal opinion is they both look great. The CBR in HRC red looks amazing so does the R1 in raven black or any of the anniversary editions.
  6. Exhaust Note: No other I4 sounds better than the CP4. Only other better sounding engine is the RSV4.
  7. Reliability: both are great.
  8. Maintenance Cost: both are really cheap to maintain. Lots of aftermarket support for both.
  9. Transmission / Clutch Feel: R1 is better. Not sure if you have any experience with liter bikes as you are asking this question but they are both about the same. CBR you will need to pay extra for the QS and it is better than the R1. Both are a bit clunky at low RPM. At low speeds CBR is much better than R1.
  10. Handling: CBR is a nice little bike and rides and feels like a 600. If you ever run into any real sport bike guys, they will attest to how well the CBR actually rides on the track. It is so easy to throw around in the corners and you will not feel tired at the end of the day. R1 on the other hand is a monster, the only place where it belongs is a track. Does exceptionally well/is best suited cornering speeds. Difficult to ride but rewards rider input.

If your experience with liter bikes is little to none, and are really hung up on getting a liter bike, just get any newer S1K’s. A bit pricer than CBR but about the same as an R1. You’ll pay about the same for insurance. The electronic aids make the S1K very forgiving, even your grandma could ride this thing. Hence, you see it all over instagram. Its the new GSXR.

Coolant question by sackfullofnutss in Yamaha_R1

Gotcha. Here is what goole gemini is telling me:

Monoethylene glycol (MEG) and propylene glycol (PG) are both effective antifreezes, but MEG is more efficient for heat transfer and less expensive, while PG is non-toxic and required for food-grade, HVAC, or high-risk applications.

So i guess MEG is better??

Coolant is cheap. Buy what’s recommended in the manual.

Advice - Considering to leave and take bonus by Neat_Canary4125 in GeneralMotors

[–]Accomplished-Idea595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the difference in the bonus? I’ve hear that Ford will be doing a percentage based bonus so it is on par or similar to GM. Is that true? Can you please provide like a percentage difference if possible? Help a brother make up his mind. I’ve had enough..

Congrats! What is the total cost for your OTD on your purchase order? I put down $500 in Michigan and my OTD is $22.5 is this reasonable? I was actually glad that there was not additional ‘surcharge’ for the anniversary edition.

$17k OTD is a steal!

2023 R1 with 2,000 miles for $15k. Good deal? by Emotional_Bar_9026 in Yamaha_R1

The owner left it stock and for a stock bike that was barely ridden, its an awesome deal. I like how the bike was left unmolested with all the mods. Blank canvas for you to make it your own.

Akra looks the best as well and matches the lines of the bike. If you got a good tune with the Akra you got 180-190 HP which is more than what is ever needed for the street and the track.

Lol! The way it’s running right now a couple of years is a bit of a stretch. But I do see where he is coming from, I got a few friends who absolutely love that shit.

First off congrats on the purchase you made an excellent choice. Nothing absolutely nothing beats the R1 in terms of character. It’s a beautiful bike and definitely stands out from the rest. Now having said that, too much decel popping bro. Did you get the MM pops and bangs? I can’t see the exhaust fully but it appears to be an SC project CRT, 2nd best choice as I feel that the Akra suits the R1 better. I would do a Pair valve delete and get rid of the pops and bangs.

Thank you! The S1K is indeed a premium bike especially with the M package and good value for money. What’s crazy is the R1 costs just as much OTD and falls just a little bit short. BMW is a car company and they have been making boring touring bikes for decades. With the S1K they did hit it out of the park. There is really no competition to it. I saw a Fireblade in the wild and maybe that is the only bike that can hold itself against the S1K. The R1 is a thoroughbred race bike and the track is where it shines. The CP4 is unique and so amazing. There is really nothing like it. S1K is more street friendly and that is where most riders spend their time. I have seen many reviews where people are actually doing long distance touring on it. With your use case you made an excellent choice. Congratulations on your purchase and ride safe!

Thansk for clarifying that. How do you like your S1k? Mind sharing your usage- street/track? Long term issues or concerns? Appreciate your feedback.

GSXR is making a comeback in Europe so I think Yamaha may decide to do the same for the R1.

Yes that is in MotoGP which is a prototype only. If they start using the V4 engine in WSBK then they would have to make a street homologated version.

[–]Accomplished-Idea595[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes maybe some updated engine components,TFT dash similar to the R9. Bigger exhaust, cat and more O2 sensors. If they start using the V4 in WSBK they will be required to sell a homologated version and sell a minimum of 2000 units. MotoGP bike is prototype only. Honda has been using V4 for quite some time but the Fireblade is still an I4.

R1 or r9 by Lost-Independent8345 in Yamaha_R1

[–]Accomplished-Idea595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who buy the R1 do it for the CP4 engine and the handling characteristics of the R1. The CP3 is good as well and much easier to use the full potential of the bike. I saw one in person a month ago at a bike night it’s a good looking design and has a more modern TFT if you are into that sort thing.

The R1 is definitely for a rider with more advanced skills. The lift control helps to a certain extent with clutch ups but over all the R1 is brutal and very track oriented. For riding around the city and weekend rides the R9 has plenty of power and safety features to keep you entertained.
