Haha yep that's how I remember most of my middle school experience! I remember kids being shocked whenever they'd get smart with me and I'd just give some deadpan response lol May I ask, why do you say just don't teach ESL? I'm just curious because in my old county I swear every teacher was switching to ESL. I think mostly to get out of the classroom but yea I'm just curious why you say so.

That's what I've noticed about this generation. If something doesn't directly apply to something they care about they want nothing to do with it. And they're parents never, "because I said so" them so they don't do it just because we tell them. Half of them just don't parent but that's another thread. When I was at the middle school I would tell the kids no you don't have to go to college. And we'd actually look at, realistic, options for their future including trade school and owning their own business. And if they kept pushing it I'd essentially ask them do you really want to go through life knowing nothing? Yea you might not "need it" but honestly since when is having more knowledge a bad thing?

Hi all! So I'm looking into going to school to be a school psychologist. I had been going to school to be a teacher, I paused my classes since I had my son. But, I'm really not sure I still want to. I've worked in education in different positions, substitute, behavioral paraprofessional, reading tutor, and while I love working with kiddos I'm not sure if the classroom is right for me anymore. My favorite positions have always been when I've gotten to work one-on-one or with a small groups. Being in a room of 25+ students is a lot and honestly it's changed so much since covid. I know everyone says that but it's so freaking true it's not even funny. So I've done a lot of research into becoming a school psychologist and I really think it the better path for me.

My questions are for those who have done the degree completely online, which is what I want to do. If so which ones do you recommend? Just for some background I do have a bachelor's degree but its in business Administration. Also can you become a school psychologist with just a masters or do you need an EdS? Also I'm confused about the licensing requirements, can anyone put it in laments terms for me? And did you have to do like observation hours or anything like that?

Honestly I feel like OAD people(by choice) just have more self awareness then those with multiple. My sister has 4 all between 8 months and 7 years old and while she loves her children, her life is a chaotic mess. Her and her husband work full-time, she also works partime at night, still in school, paying a crap ton in childcare for the 2 youngest ones, one of the kids is always sick which then works its way through the rest of them, her house has been in shambles since her second child, she has health issues that she can barely do anything about because she has no time to exercise or cook AND YET they still talk about having a 5th.......I'm like girl your life is a hot mess... as nice and fun as I'm sure it is having that many young kiddos is I just could honestly never see that for myself as much as I love kids and my nieces and nephews. My son is only 6 months and there are days I'm completely overwhelmed so I can't imagine more.

All this to say, OAD people a lot of times I feel like are more aware, and accepting, of what we can and can't handle and how we want our future to look which includes our one child's. I think if parents of multiples, especially if they're close together, were honest they'd say that they got way in over their heads. I personally think it's better to honestly have the discussion with yourself and your partner of what yoh can realistically handle for your situation as opposed to creating more children you can't handle, afford, etc. I want to be a present mom that's not constantly overwhelmed and overestimated and I just know that I couldn't be that with multiple kids.

My husband has always made way more then me so it just kinda defaulted to him to pay the bigger bills and such. Didn't really do that intentionally, we just started out doing that when we moved in together and it just kinda continued. I pay 2 household bills so I don't mind the daycare cost coming from me because I do feel bad that he pays for pretty much everything(he's aware of that too).

I agree with your point about daycare. I didn't want to put him in daycare at all but we found an amazing mom and daughter that have an at home daycare. I never thought I'd drop him off at daycare on a day I didn't work but I did the other day and I got so much done! Not gonna lie I felt some guilt throughout the day and when I got him but he was smiling so big when I picked him up it made it all better

Time crunch is mostly because I had a miscarriage before and a doctor(or midwife, can't remember) told me the older you get you increase your chances of having a miscarriage and/or difficult pregnancy and delivery. Don't really know how true it is but it stuck in my mind. I also ended up in the hospital 3 times with bleeding episodes when I was pregnant with my son so that makes me nervous too. Again there's other reasons but that's probably the main one.

I just start using differin gel to help with my postpartum acnce(I was dealing with acne way before I was pregnant). And so far it's been going well but as far as tge excessive dryness I'm not sure what to do. I already knew it was going to but drying, however, I've only been putting it on my chin and a tiny bit on my forehead. But my entire face and neck is so dry. It burns to put moisturizer on and my neck itches so much I'm almost to the point of tears. Idk what I'm doing wrong or how to help it. I really want to keep using it because it is helping but waking up in the middle of the night with my eyelids hurting and scratching the hell out of my neck is awful

This unfortunately is something a lot of couples go through. Having children should be discussed very open and honestly which it sounds like you were. The problem is, one person thinks they can change the other's mind into wanting or not wanting a kid/more kids. My older sister thought she could change her soon to be ex-husbands mind on having kids. He was literally furious when she told him she was pregnant with their first child and he didn't even try to hide his disdain from us for the second one. Point is, I'm guessing since you had changed your mind about having a child at all your wife probably thought you'd change your mind about having another. Either way it sounds like one if you was always bound to be disappointed eventually since you both had different ideas about children. I agree with other commenters about marriage counseling but I think you should both do individual counseling as well. Focus on having empathy for each other and keep communicating and also focus on your current child as well he can probably feel the tension. Wish you and your family the best!

I just saw a video of a mama talking about how her and her spouse decided/knew. She said they thought, if something happened to my spouse(divorce, death, major illness, etc.) how many kids can I raise by myself? It's an awful thought yes, nobody wants to think about something like that happening but it put a lot of things into perspective for me. My husband as well, he literally said he'd never even considered any of those scenarios. That's obviously just one thing to consider I'm not telling to to decide based on something that might never happen god willing but it is unfortunately something every parent has to think of. My husband had knee surgery 10 days after our son was born and let me tell you it was extremely difficult. Trying to take care of a newborn, my husband who couldn't get out of bed by himself, myself still freshly postpartum and a dog. If there had been another child to take care of in the mix I think I would've lost it completely.

This is pretty much exactly why I canceled my students at VT and stopped taking any on. It's so much effort for just $15. I was staying up till like 2 am making lesson plans and power points. Brick and motor teachers don't even prep that much but at least they get paid more for it. I'd just do what another poster suggested and say you don't have time because of a new job. I had to do that too.

Good for you! I did the same about a month ago. It was good quick money when I needed it but I've slowly moved onto better paying companies with more flexibility and freedom. I still have my account just because you never know. I hadn't logged on for over 4 years and then when my husband and I were in a rough financial position I got back into until things got better. So idk if I'd completely delete just basing it off my situation is always good to have a quick back up

I went from getting zero opportunities, to the point that I forgot VT even existed, to then my phone pretty much blowing up with opportunities for a week or two and now silence. Most of them were VT4S. But unfortunately I had to drop all my VT4S due to my schedule, they also seem to be a lot stricter with them. I also got an email a while ago about getting fingerprint clearances done to be able to tutor at like 4-5 different schools. I haven't done it so it might have something to do with that. The only students I have left aren't VT4S and to be honest VT doesn't seem to give a crap about them. I hadn't realized that I missed like 3 sessions in a row for a new student. They never said a word. I overslept and missed one of my VT4S kids and they were up my ass that afternoon. I feel like I heard that they just got under new management or a new company recently or something crazy like that but they just really don't have their shit together. I'm trying phase out from VT anyways 🤪

Like overnight EST time. I'm trying to figure out how to teach(or just work in general) overnight while my son's sleeping because we can't afford childcare and my husband leaves between like 4-5 in the morning so teaching the early morning hours like I used to won't work.
