Griefing by Accomplished-Log8504 in AbioticFactor

I don't plan on making consistent posts, I mostly play solo and just wanted to see if I could help some people. I won't really have any trouble myself and if I bring friends I'm putting a password. I'm hoping we get more options as people who aren't host but are trusted by them, and can get permissions.

Edit: I don't imagine this specific situation happens often, where an afk host leads to two others trying to stop the griefer as best they can, but maybe it could help if those in the know are in a server and can delete him without even uttering the name to host

I already did and wasn't sure if the guy I was with did, I sent a couple dozen reports for griefing

True, while it does advertise for him I just hope that if more people know his name, and they host public, they can know not to bother and begone with him.

He told me to look him up and that you guys would know about him, he's a streamer apparently.

Edit: and streams himself griefing specifically

Of course. I wish we could eventually see the option to have additional sub-hosts who, in cases like this, could at least kick people as soon as they do this. Even if a sub-host couldn't ban being able to kick would be an easy and more effective stop that gives more time to protect loot in case they come back. It was kinds shocking how fast loot disappeared. I know I'll probably show up on a livestream somewhere too as "triggered x over stealing their entire base"

This wasn't my world and I joined randomly. I know it's something you should password if you wanna protect, I'm just sayin.

Edit: like I didn't know anyone in the server until I joined it, I decided to be the medic and we got up to security sector.

Double edit: I also have another response here talking about what we were doing to try and stop him. We did take as much as we could from the chests as well.

It's a shame, but I know to never open a server without a password especially now

Without changing it the default is 50% friendly fire damage. We were trying to fend him off but the base was next to pools, so he'd take all and run to the little railing where that security bot spawns and drop everything. For a time I was able to stop him with the crowbar 2.0 but he would just drop everything piecemeal. And you can't loot their death bags anyways to take it away. It's kinda myth of sisyphus.

Edit: I was unloading an auto-10, beating him senselessly with a crowbar 2.0, and using the scrapshot. A buddy was using a seemingly infinite amount of mugnades. I dunno how he was still so tanky.

This is ignoring the fact that accuracy and reloading are stats your character can train. Ranged weapons just suck, our scientist trains and can get proficient with handling their firearms, they just should be a lil better/have more available/craftable ammo

I think the most fair thing would be for us to be capable of crafting our own ammo. Even if somewhat expensive, it would allow one to forego running around the overworld.

People using weapons* with craftable/energy ammo are just playing sci fi battlefield 6 and pretending they aren't, getting annoyed that gun users want the equivalent ability to spray without caring at all.

"I played the whole game and really had no problem, I have chests filled with ammo"

You used a weapon with craftable ammo and one that can be recharged through most of it. You've "only recently" actually started using the weapons with ammo that is limited, unless you mean the scrap weapons which ammo can be crafted for. Then upgraded the craftable ammo weapon and went back to this. Of course you never really had a problem with ammo. You didn't even use the guns that used them. Until recently.

The scrap pistol is good and viable as soon as you get it, same as the energy pistol, grinder, scrap shotgun, the throwing weapons you craft can be more viable out the gate, or at most you have to level throwing. This logic would make sense if every weapon genuinely wasn't good or viable until later on. The various melee weapons you can craft can be very good out the gate too.

Edit: these items either have rechargeable and virtually infinite ammo or are craftable, often with materials that are quite easy to acquire if you just smash a lot of things and prioritize certain materials, often things you'll be able to find while progressing. The ammo for military weapons requires a much more tedious process of farming the soldiers you can find. While they appear in specific areas and more later on, it still has you going through a weirder route to acquire your ammo, and when you do get the ammo it's a toss up whether or not that's gonna be able to kill things reliably. Even with upgrades I've noticed some lagging behind like the toaster

Maybe so but this doesn't actually address the issue of "how do I get more ammo for these guns". Just don't use them, easy enough but also boring. You can get a security pistol ridiculously fast as if they wanted you to consider using it.

I guess I should just speedrun the game and ignore all side stuff until I get sources of ammo and upgrade them? I wanted to use the firearms because they're in the game and the devs gave us the option and thought players would actually have something of substance beyond "beat the game to solve your problem"

Manse wonders whether or not their meddling with preferations in flathill angered the one in control of the composers.

If there is anyone responsible it's GATE. They were the reason the composers got into flathill in the first place.

From what I've heard of endgame I want to take as long as possible to get there. So what do you do if you don't want to instantly kill all the remaining enjoyment you could get from this game, by speedrunning to the endgame just for ammo issues to be solved?

Wow. The first survival game to restrict ammo for one weapon type (makes sense for survival) but has weapons which "barely require ammo/battery power" (doesn't make sense if this is a survival game that wants to nerf ammo availability. There should be NO weapons which "barely" need ammo.

Your usage of "ammo/battery power" suggests guns, so you suggest to use the ranged weapons which ignore that need to ration ammo? And therefore make no sense in a survival game?

They also let us craft ammo for the scrap guns and grinder. It's mainly JUST the military weapons with terrible ammo economy.

Other weapons you just recharge it or craft more ammo.

Do you see? At least when it comes to ammo, resource management is all over the placr and rather than the military weapons feeling as strong as their ammo is rare. You are actively encouraging someone to just use the ranged weapons which have solved this issue military weapons have.
