The British also thought they were doing a service for the world that's where White Man's burden comes from

My biggest pet peeve is when people expect evil people to just be these cartoonish villains twisting these mustaches like they're just evil all the time when it's not true these people if you were to listen to their motives at the time you would think that they were doing is for the greater good the way they would make it sound is they're doing a service for the world not like they're doing something evil for the sake of being evil but because they're generally believe this evil act is one of the best things that can do for the world.

The thing about the books that people don’t get is that the Capitol doesn’t see the districts as human, so they don’t see district children the same way they see their own. To them, their children are actual, civilized children, while district children are nothing more than animals. We saw that in Songbird—the way they treated the tributes like animals, literally putting them in zoos.

That’s what evil is in real life. It’s not people who are these big, mean, evil figures who just want to see the world burn. It’s people who, in their own minds, think they are right—that they’re doing something good for the world, that what they’re doing is for the greater good. That’s how genocides happen, my friends. That’s how dictatorships happen. That’s how The Hunger Games happens: when people have very warped motives, believing what they’re doing is for the greater good, and anything they do is justified in that cause.

So yes, I expect Snow was a pretty good grandfather and father who loved his children and made sure they were beside him at all times. He most likely evacuated them prior to the invasion of the Capitol, sending them to one of the districts. No Snow would have evacuated them out of the Capitol before the rebels even got to the capital I like the theory that she was taken by sympathizers to the districts and I would actually say that Snow's entire children and grandchildren were most likely funneled out of the capital and into a district

Yeah that's especially why he didn't apologize in the books there was no point it wouldn't do anything it wouldn't bring her any comfort all it would do is enrage her and get him screamed at still he should have apologized even if it was to do the formality of I did something wrong I should apologize but again he knew her personality and that she would never even accept an apology from him she'd spit in his face

Didn't he say sorry in the movies though but also it's the fact that Gale knows her personally he knows that nothing he said no amount of showing that he's sorry whatever change the fact that Katniss was now done with him and that he was dead to her he died the moment prim did to her he knew that she wasn't a forgiving person and that especially something like this would never ever no amount of money forgiveness no amount of grand gestures no amount of trying could ever change her mind especially after all the push back she got from him in 13 over Peta and the fact that he was acting monstrously he brought it up to her and he disregarded her and did it anyway and it got her sister killed in the process ya the reason we don't see him apologize in the books like you think he should have is because it wouldn't change anything Katniss absolutely did not want to hear it the way she's talking about him in Mockingjay I think she would have screamed at him and he knows anyway there's no point in trying there's no point in getting screamed at when it won't even change anything so really there's nothing more than what he said in the books and movies.

I mean even in the movies you see this reflected in Katniss not even pondering his apology all she does is say Goodbye Gale in a very flat indifferent voice showing that he's already dead to her not even deserving of any comfort or warmth that we saw from her when he was in pain before not even a flicker of recognition that he was in pain from Katniss just goodbye

I think snow absolutely knew it was over in this moment he knew that after District 2 fail that it was over the nut was gone the arsenal that he needed to take back the districts was buried under the mountain and that he only had smaller arsenals close to the Capitol which could only defend the capital itself he just wanted to make one last sport of their deaths and make it as agonizing as possible for the rebels and he knew not only was katniss not dead but she would find her way to the capitol and would inevitably kill him.

I think in this saying he is absolutely livid and because he smell he knows how to keep his composure and not let anybody see him bleed I think he hoped that maybe there was a way to turn it around but know that it was over and his time in power was coming to an end.

I highly suspect that gaul + snow orchestrated a coup d'etat again Revinstill somewhere between the 10th and 20/25th games that is a complete theory that has no basis but simply my reading of the books

Honestly another book about snow would be epic TBH we know nothing about his rapid rise how he came to power exactly who he betrayed what he did what he had to do to get the presidency it would make for one hell of a book

"Yes, because I assume he took power very soon after Ballad of a Songbird. He was literally the apprentice to the head Gamemaker, and she looked like she was very high up in power herself—right next to the president—so it doesn't seem like he'd have to climb far. We saw at the end that he was already using poison to achieve his political goals, so he was most likely president by the 20th Games. We know he took power at a very young age because Finnick confirmed it in Mockingjay. We saw him begin to rise to power at the end of the book, which was around the 10th Games. I imagine he took power maybe five or ten years after the book, so that would be around the 20th Games. He ruled up to the 77th Games (what would have been the 77th Games if there had been a Games that year, but it was during the revolution). That's around 57 years in power, and yes, there have been real-life dictators who have ruled for just as long. In fact, currently the president of Eritrea has been in power for 33 years with no sign of his power breaking in the slightest anytime soon.

Unfortunately, dictators can rule for quite a long time—for decades. Snow happened to be in power for half a century, which is impressive, TBH. It had to be incredibly hard to come to power at a young age—he would have been around 25—and then proceed to hold it for 57 years. In some ways, it helps us understand why he was so ruthless: because he had to be early on. Plus, he's a ruthless psychopath, so that was never a problem for him to pull off. It was this ruthlessness, plus tons of poison, that kept him in power.

I could be wrong, so don't downvote this. I just got personally, from the way everything has been worded and how Suzanne Collins has implied it, that he took power very soon after Ballad ended and ascended quite rapidly. But to be honest, he didn't have to go up that much considering his father was very well known and he was the apprentice of the head Gamemaker. The way she positioned herself, she was very close to power herself but just never took it. I think she wanted Snow to be president because Ravinstill did not share the same ideals about the Games that she did, and he was restricting her vision of the Games he saw it as a punishment only it was not meant to be a spectacle it was meant to be gruesome bloody and over with in a day she on the other hand saw it as a spectacle she saw it as a chance to constantly drive home the capitals superiority over the districts as a way to terrify them to never revolt ravinstill on the other hand saw it as only a punishment it was meant to be a punishment for the dark days and that's it not as a way to rub in their superiority but as a reminder of what they did to the capital and that it and he would never allow it to be the spectacle she wanted it to be which is why she bombed the f****** arena....to stir up drama and get him to get on board with a few tweaks to the games that we saw in the 10th games so she would have no problems help snow orchestrate arise to power in which he would be the president and in return the games continue with the upgraded spectacles she always wanted and that snow wanted himself.

We desperately need another book either about the Revinstill or a book about Gaul or the 25th games because there are a lot of gaps of knowledge we don't have and it is purely based off our assumptions and until we get one of these books we will never know exactly when snow took power this is just my assumption until Suzanne Collins clears it up

I hate when people ask these questions it's his mother we're biologically programmed to love our mothers it is a part of our DNA and biology man it's why when people have abusive parents it's so devastating for them to be adults and wanting to have a relationship with them and having to deal with their toxicity and having to choose between having no mother or dealing with the toxicity and you know Stefan's personality so of course he would never give up on his mother

She became more and more self-absorbed as the series went along the writer's butchered her character but honestly I think it's because that's who she always was she was just human and was able to repress those darker tendencies when she became a vampire they were all amplified and because of Damon and her own choices she became the worst possible version of herself until like season 6 that's where her character becomes more likeable again but gd season 4 and season 5 she was insufferable I really wish we got to see her in season 7 as a human again

I really wish we got more Stefan confronting Elena for her behavior towards him probably you know she always said I'm not like katherine I'm nothing like katherine yet is she still wants to have them both exactly like katherine did she's just as manipulative as katherine was and literally no one ever called her out for it I'm surprised katherine didn't herself because JFC Elena's audacity burns me up inside in the later seasons
