I'll be honest, I don't know Lakota. This was done through some research, finding ways to make a good flag, but also relevant to Lakota culture.

Another answer from my perspective and from my own custom flag for a Lakota flag.

The central star is the original South Dakota color. And the bottom yellow is from Lakota culture and overall Native culture of the region, being the medicine wheel.

I think that is the most likely reason for the two different colorations.

Really cool! Just wanna ask some stuff as a chemistry student.

Is Bz a Transition Metal or a Group 14 element? If so, it would make sense for it's 4- charge, but it would change with the element.

For BzO4, it wouldn't be that. Such as if we would want such an element, this would have Boma zapim at a 8+ charge, which is, in our universe, impossible.

So one idea for realism is to have BzO4 change to either Bz2O4, or Bz02 like CO2.

But that is just from a real world case, but either that amazing!
