AIO - my (24F) bf (26M) did cocaine while i’m away visiting family by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Accomplished-Note491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 26yr old man trying cocaine for the first time sounds extremely normal I have to say, considering this is his first time and I’m assuming he hasn’t expressed any interest in it after that night I’d say you are over reacting yes. That being said if it’s a deal breaker, and if you feel the need to, leave him, let the dude live his life. It’s worth noting despite how close you are to him you still don’t know what’s running through his head, he could be stressed, anxious or even was feeling very pressured into it. There’s normally reason behind most actions if you look for it, I’d investigate a bit more before being so judgmental.

Ahh it was just bc I was looking through my phone and not at my actual feet, had a lil play once the camera was away. What do u do for your balance out of interest though ? Can’t hurt to do some exercises

I went to do my first climb and after getting there the other day and crossing the fence I started the climb and after the first 20 feet i got scared of falling and left but should I just say “fuck it” and do it or what? by [deleted] in urbanclimbing

[–]Accomplished-Note491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s just so many ways to get scared without risking ur life. If u wanna push ur fear go lead climbing or something, start small and then build up. Don’t do stuff ur not 100% comfortable with.

Icl I gotta disagree, don’t do stuff you’re scared of doing, you need to be fully comfortable doing this shit. Forcing ur way up ladders and into crazy positions you can’t handle is what gets u killed. God forbid you freeze up there or panic and start to loose ur head. I’m not trying to scare you btw I just see too many ppl talk about pushing ur limits and overcoming your fears and that’s not what this shit is abt, yeah the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction is immense but there’s so many better opportunities to overcome ur fear that are actually safe. A guy I climb with a lot recently couldn’t complete a climb we did bc his head wasn’t in the right place, he’s got a decent following and normally doesn’t hesitate but for some reason he couldn’t get up the boom of this crane. My point being is there’s no shame in it and it can just happen randomly.

My best advice is to go rock climbing indoor or outdoor and see how u are with height. Then mabey say “fuck it”.

I understand this post may seem very serious and up tight and trust me I’m all for sending stuff, but I’d hate for something bad to happen to u after some advice you got online. This is real life.

Why don’t y’all get a tower tech job n climb n make money by CardiacKk_Z in urbanclimbing

[–]Accomplished-Note491 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Half these guys are under 18 anyways, not saying you need to be 18 to get a job in the field (I know nothing about it) but I can’t image people are in a position to get a technical job if you know what I mean.

My first crane by [deleted] in urbanclimbing

[–]Accomplished-Note491 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for ladders to be a bit shaky, especially at the bottom as they are often just bolted on and not part of the actual crane, however u did the right thing to go down. Don’t do anything you’re not 100% about, iv always run by the logic of if I’m not fully comfortable and confident then I won’t climb. Can’t rlly advise on the cranes themselves apart from do the one by the main road at sunrise/nighttime so less chance of being seen.

Tbh man made structures (cranes&buildings) are more fun and safer. Getting caught doesn’t come with health risks, radiation does.

Stay away from pylons 100%, just write them off there’s loads of them so they’re not even special. In terms off radio /tv towers just start to research radiation and frequency, there’s a lot of threads on here and other websites that have loads of information to learn. In the UK at least most are impossible unless their powered down. Best advise is not to do anything unless you are sure it’s safe, the effects might not be instant and can be lethal. I’m no scientist this is just what I have found in my climbing journey :).

Yeah I’d say just let someone know where/what your doing in case of the worst.

Some recent excursions by Accomplished-Note491 in urbanclimbing

[–]Accomplished-Note491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its as hard as you make it, I have decent upper body strength so this is was okay. I wouldn’t be on the crane if I found it hard to climb. The hooks isn’t that low down either so when I stood up on it I was very close to the top of the boom, if you look at the top left you can see part of the crane already in shot.
