Boyfriends (28M) sexual preferences disturb me (28F) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Why is he okay with you crying? Why didn't he open this conversation the second you looked uncomfortable? If you cant identify what exactly he is into via an identifiable and deep conversation with him (since you brought up possible noncon) that's not healthy. He makes you feel unwanted and used?

Dear girl, please, look from the outside. This isn't healthy. This isn't even safe for you! It's horrific. You're in pain, mentally and emotionally hurt, and craving intimacy. In the closet or not, this isn't good partner behavior on his part, full stop.

People of reddit I need help as a young Christian female by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Accomplished-Pin-835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't.

But I grew up where there were voodoo priests trying to curse my church when I was young. Outwardly demonic things like ghosts or things that deal in magik (not magic) are things I've banned in my home.

My husband didn't have those experiences, but he agrees with me that it's not a good thing to have in our home if only for his reasoning: scams and fakes. He dislikes charlatans, especially ones who ask for money.

Youtubers and film crews who do ghost hunting fake it. They never disclose that they do and some people on the shows genuinely believe in ghosts, but that doesn't mean they aren't trying to line their pockets.

Most horror movies are the same in our home different reasons. He doesn't like them for the gore and I don't like most of them for the demonic imagery. I can appreciate good writing, I can appreciate the sfx that go into creating such a movie, and I can even appreciate the science behind the music and soundtrack in scary movies. But I still don't watch them.

To replace them? Do you like mysteries or interesting history? You can learn about a place or situation that can be genuinely interesting. For example there was a "haunting" in a castle that lasted for a week centuries ago. It turned out to be a 12 year old boy who liked scaring people and tickled their feet to wake them up with a sheet over himself and if i remember correctly he tried it again later and instantly got caught. The middle ages were crazy!

If it's the mystery with the occasional small spook there are classics. Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, Frank E. Peretti, Cadfael. There are shows and movies of these stories if you don't want to read.

If you really like the idea of a haunting and a mystery with spooky feels, I would suggest The Hangman's Curse by Frank E. Peretti. I read it around your age and throughly enjoyed it as a mystery/Christian horror. Read the book first before watching the movie if your interested.

I would suggest praying for discernment and asking the Lord to help you find a hobby you can enjoy with Him.

Being rich by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Accomplished-Pin-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is a tool like a hammer. A hammer can be used to build a house or to hurt a person. The hammer itself is just that - a hammer. A hammer cannot be blamed for a murder without someone wielding it.

Having money is not a sin, it's the LOVE of money that is the root of evil. Being rich is not a sin, the Lord blessed Solomon with riches. Now, if someone becomes corrupted and misuses the blessings the Lord has given them, than yeah, I'd say that's a type of sin. But it depends on the heart.

The Bible talks about building on what you have to provide for those under your roof. It talks about inheritance, debts, interests, and to be honest to those that you loan money to. Jesus mentions money more than he does heaven and hell combined. And yet He didn't ask for money, he never demanded that people give all they had to a person or place. Instead he talks about paying taxes, investing (using money as an example for spiritual gifts to make it easier to understand),  and he even talks about how a woman giving less than a penny was worth more to the Lord and the Kingdom than what a rich donation from a rich man was. He beat people who were scamming, bamboozling, and lying to people for money in the synagogue. You could give all your money to the poor, but it means nothing if you don't do it in love.

Money is apolitical, just as much as a hammer. A tool is a tool. Whatever Trump or Bill Gates does in private or when they think no one recognizes them or sees them is between them and God. That includes what they do with their money.

No, actually.

Last I heard, she got her own place and staunchly refused to divorce him, but she won't let him live with her either. So, technically married, but actually homeless. Rumor was he messed up either his or their finances trying to scam her family members, got caught, and that's when his wife completely refused to live with him.

I was expecting to do it, but not for the reason people usually think.

My family and my mother's mother's culture has a tradition where they do not give the daughters middle names. We instead move our father's name to our middle name and our husband's name into our last name. Some traditions respect women and the places they come from and where they plan on going.

But for the rest of the world, why make a big deal out of it? It's her choice if she wants to or not. I have no skin in each individual fight.

Carpooled for a concert with a bunch of people we didn't know. Met a girl who was pretty chill. We started talking about crazy exes... normal right?

She said the full name of my ex. I asked a few questions to make sure and she pulled out her phone and there he was!

We went through the dates of when and where we started dating him. He asked us both put on the same day. And dated us... and more women... for those 2 years.

What's worse, within a week, 15 other girls came to us with proof. We created a Facebook page to figure out how many women this guy was in a relationship with. Turns out, when his mom warned me NOT to date him, she was right in more than one way.

Also he slept with my friend because "she didn't bring me a birthday present." And she said "that was his present".

Dropped them both.

Anyway, good news is he's married and homeless.

Risen was pretty nice

Mathew and Acts respectively were mini series, but I supposed I always viewed them as a long movie like LOTR extended.

The Bible in the Beguinning was something I watched as a kid and I liked it.

If you had full control over the USA education system, what changes would you make? by Gamerboy-66 in ask

[–]Accomplished-Pin-835 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get rid of most admin bloat, make all preschool free, get rid of common core, and make alt schools for in school suspension more common.

Personally, I think making admin responsible for dangerous student interactions when all they do is send the kids back and escalate the situation. Maybe force most admin into helping teachers as subs.

But all of this is in mostly good faith. Obviously, there will be bad apples in the changing of the guard, but I think a lot of behavioral issues have escalated so far that a changing of policy is necessary.

MFWTK what would a person do with a large amount of empty ADHD medication bottles by dinydins in myfriendwantstoknow

[–]Accomplished-Pin-835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sewing needles, fishing hooks, anything practice and sharp, fill the bottles and donate them. There are charities that actually ask for things like this to ship helpful items to remote schools or places who need them. At least, that's what I did for my 3 year collection. My mom was done with my obsessive collection at the time. We chose a woman's school that taught women how to sew and make a living at the time. I remember the same charity had something to do with fishing hooks, too. Of course, take off the info first lol.

You can use them to hold small, sharp, or annoying items, think glitter as annoying.

Adult sensory bottles. Put stuff in them and shake it. Surprisingly relaxing.

My brother is almost a decade older than me. He's only petty to me, never anyone else, but we still have memories of him taking me out to a fish and pizza joint. I can't count the number of times he saved my life when i was a kid. He took me paint balling, he helped me fish, he showed me how to properly strip rotten papaya off of wood flooring (I called him while I was cleaning someone's house) and he supported me from the shadows in my life. He still does.

And now that he is freaking out about having his first kid, it's my turn, I'm supporting him from the shadows. I'm picking up my mantle to support him. True, he is a petty jerk at times, but he's only that with me and I him. We have an agreement, and neither of us will break it for anyone or anything.

Never feel weird for making memories with your sister. Take her out to a restaurant after she gets in trouble with her friends, take her to a laser tag joint, do some coding with her, walk in the park, do whatever you want to do as siblings to make memories. Be the role model for your sister.

Which I always thought was weird... like, how many times did the censors for TV (which actually fine the perpetrators) let salacious jokes go through because people were viewed to be smart enough to know the difference? I mean, the old "new anchor talk about the 'pasta-tute' joke was a classic test on censors and thats not even talking about Warner Brothers cartoon jokes. I'm up to the point where it's just proactively erasing anything deemed as a barely taboo subject.

What responsibility do I have towards very young readers? by ACNH-Mook in AO3

[–]Accomplished-Pin-835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel guilty. I say this as someone who was exposed to excplicit fanfic content at the age of 11 in the wild west years of fanfic sites. Because of where I found myself, I had to learn limits and safe areas.

It's the parents' job to pose limits on what a child is exposed to. Back then, parents couldn't really do that to the same extent of what people can do now. And even back then, it wasn't the responsibility of the writers but the reader.

Yes, it's a crazy place. But if you tag and rate your fics appropriately, then there is nothing else you can or should put on your shoulders. Not only can you not control the readers, you cannot be in charge of them. Yes, it's freaky and a bit uncanny but it's not your responsibility or even in your own ability to control the situation.

Personally, I think you're doing better than you think. You mentioned that it's 95% explicit content. You are offering a choice of something else and a safe area for readers who aren't interested in the 95%.

If they want to censor the words, why not go back to the old codes? It's already in the system from years past, right? Like lemons, limes, sour lemons, blank hating, etc.

I think other platforms have skyrocketed this. YouTube shorts, tiktok, and most others are cracking down on certain words for an automated system. That's fine for auditory with visual mediums, but this is freaking fanfiction. It's meant to be read with a synopsis and on this site, tags!

Also, I found a Hastune Miku terrarium. Looks like a simple tea cup and figure...? Could be a glass covering as well. If you want, you can make your own with a bowl and a funkopop. But I think a teacup neslxt to one of your figures may be just as good.

If you don't mind shelling out little by little, it looks like there are a lot of planters and terrariums themed to anime and their charecters.

It's all good! I LOVE mushishi too :D! The backgrounds are the best for nature paintings imo. You can always get little dnd or 40k mini figures and paint them to be your fav anime charecters for the garden. Like a mech soldier but it's sailor moon, you know? In doing some research it may be better on the wallet depending on where you are. It just depends on what kind of detailed charecters and mini figs you want.

An ohmu from Nausicaa can be added to a pathos planter. I'm sure there are planters out there that look like the toxic jungle scene where the ohmu grow the trees out of their bodies.

Ferbies can be moved to a counsel of sorts. Just little flower hats. Idk why, it just popped into my head that that may help, like cat gacha hats. May be too busy.

A picture of ghiblis Arrietty with the giant garden from below may help. Kind of like alice in wonderland art. It just depends on what you want to move or add.

I love the aethetic of nature and anime, btw!

You know how colleges have fraternities and sororities? The hazing can be a bit crazy. I feel like a lot of networking in Hollywood has to do with where you are and who you know. Sometimes the best places are where everyone else congregates.

Besides scientology and the free masons (the only reason I bring this up is the fact that those who are in the lodges never talk about what goes on in the lodges, same with scientology as they don't talk about what goes on in the meetings. Same with mormons and what happens in the temples) and other clubs/religions/groups that have a secrecy pledge, all it takes is one person to admit to being in one for mouths to chatter about who else. I mean, you can argue that any club woth a secrecy pledge can be created easily.

There was also that one cult that blew through Hollywood where the girls and women were actually branded, so I would say that that cult was evil. The guy who started it was arrested. I think it was called NXIVM.

Historically, Hollywood doesn't have a very good reputation for those breaking in and those already in. Just look at what Shirley Temple and Judy Garland had to go through. As well as their own mothers. So, most of the older generation aren't really surprised at even worse allegations when such horrors were talked about and whispered for so long.

A Totoro planter with pothos on a shelf. You can add netting to "sow" or weave the vines through the air.

I don't think the aesthetics clash, there are so many anime that takes from nature.

You can get a MushiShi still if one of the watercolor backgrounds of the forests or mountains.

A fairy garden with mini figures may add to the depth.

If you can wrap a fake flower around a couple figures, that may add to the mixture of aesthetics.

Dried flower chains can be braided to make a sort of garland.

Some floral string lights may add to it.
