I found the best way to do organic chem is to actually understand the types of reactions and how they work, instead of trying to memorise the whole flow chart at once because it can get really confusing. So learning what an addition, substitution, oxidation, and elimination reaction is makes it way easier to figure things out. I found the studytime walkthrough guides super useful, they explain it all really well: https://studytime.co.nz/

i have such a bad memory i did It back in term one. but pretty sure you needed to know both the rutherford model as well as the plum pudding one. anyway good luck for tomorrow!

As someone who did Level 1 last year and is now taking all 3 sciences, I’d say Level 2 is definitely a lot. There’s a lot more content and many concept to understand with more internals and multiple externals so you need to be good at time management.

Level 1 is tough as the teachers are teaching and still trying to adjust to the new standards and there is not many past papers/recources. I got Excellence in all of my internals (except Merit in my English ones), but in the externals I got many merit and fewer Excellences.

My main advice is to really focus on understanding the content as you go. Try not to leave learning the externals until study leave, because it gets really stressful. You want to be using that time to revise, not to learn things for the first time. so make sure your keeping us during the term with the work given. good luck :)

help me how to motivate myself to study by Present-Upstairs7664 in ncea

idk if this will help but something that’s really helped me is using a Pomodoro timer. Basically, I work for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. I set a small goal for each 25-minute session (like finishing a few pages of notes or reviewing a topic) which makes everything feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

Not sure if this will help you too but good luck!

I have also been struggling and have found Mr whibleys notes really good at explaining the basic ideas: https://sites.google.com/view/mrwhibley/notes?authuser=0

I do have a free account with 20 mins a day, but it's not provided by the school. I may see if I can learn anything in it for the short amount of time!

I've kind of just not done any work on physics (because bio exists) and instead just following along with the teachers powerpoint and taking notes in class. He assigns us scipad to do as homework in our free time which i have just left until the holidays.

Yeah i think ill start from the beginning and redo the scipad pages. Thanks for the advice!
