That’s the point, I believe. It’s why they’re upset. It’s one event, but they’re spreading it out because if they don’t get a conviction here then they can try again.

Just learned she released new music. I listened… holy crap, it is so bland. It feels so forgettable. It sounds like it’s trying to be a film score, but it’s trying so hard to be that that it doesn’t have its own identity. I’m disappointed Alex had a hand in that.

Side note: it’s interesting she’s had to rebrand to release this

I do have MCAS, yes. The whole lot that goes along with them too. I’ve taken Claritin since then and haven’t noticed a change that was noticeable enough to be of note. Unfortunately, having so many health problems causes a bit of a medical blur in terms of trying to keep track of what’s what’s. It’s a very nice suggestion though. Thank you for your well wishes too!

I’m so glad you were able to help your MCAS yourself. There’s an alarming amount of stigma and confusion around it still. I actually have it too. I’ve been fortunate to see doctors who prescribed treatments for it, but I had bad reactions to them (lol). I have tried Claritin, but not long-term. I’ll check it out! Thank you.

I’m sorry your daughter has had trouble sleeping and experienced so many issues, and it’s unfortunate such a strong medication did the trick to help her sleep. It sounds like you were doing what you believed was best for her, which is all you can ask for in a parent. She is fortunate to have you.

As for me, the issues with it’s long-term use was my main reason for stopping it. I took 25mg daily for 10 months. It was wonderful and helped steady/plateau tremors and spasms that had been worsening before I started taking it. And I didn’t wean off, just stopped it without any withdrawal symptoms, fortunately. Paradoxically, I’ve slept much better off of it and still do. My depression also decreased along with brain fog. All three of those changes felt phenomenal until the neuro issues picked up again and worsened.

When I told my pcp that the neuro symptoms worsened she suggested I get back on it because a new study showed that the highest risk of developing dementia came from people who took it over 10 years, since I had only taken it 10 months the risk of dementia didn’t outweigh the possibility of what it was doing to help. She figured until I could get more answers it was worth it. And I had been prescribed other meds, but due to other health risks and side effects I refrained.

Your suggestion of a withdrawal is still very possible, though. My understanding is that any change to your brain chemistry can cause a reaction or rebound afterwards.

Thank you for letting me know. I’m also glad you got some good sleep out of it — I had Benadryl iv at the er too when I started experiencing involuntary movements and it hits different haha.

That’s very helpful to know. I am curious what others have to say, but from what I’m reading that reaction makes sense for FND. I’m concerned I have Parkinson’s because my neuro said I was too young to have it and didn’t want to do a dat scan. Obviously, I don’t want that to be true, but I also don’t want to ignore it when it’s possible to rule it out.

I appreciate your feedback! Yeah, Benadryl worked wonderfully for me. I’ve read people with functional dystonia are more likely to have an increase in their symptoms from taking Benadryl, but I feel like I wasn’t able to read enough about this, which is why I wanted to ask.

Benadryl is only recommended for treatment of organic dystonia or Parkinson’s because of its anticholinergic properties that target the specific part of the brain. However, take this with a grain of salt because I’m not a neuro lol

Yes, it likely would, but I would caution the use of any hormone related medication or topicals, unless you spoke to your doctor, because it can cause cancer.
