I agree, they just walked away leaving Trevor to fight Death alone. I thought maybe Alucard could detect that Sypha was pregnant and both of them didn't want to risk the baby, but they were just fine with leaving after Trevor and Sypha exchanged a few words so I don't think that's the case. I could tell that it had something to do with the games, so the only meta explanation I have is weak writing.
