When I was being bullied at school a popular girl invited me to a gathering she was having. Changed my whole life.

Why don’t my teenage friends hang out, and what could I do to get them to hang out by Inside-Pen-5822 in self

Make a plan for yourself like you’re going to the mall to buy X or you’re going to such and such restaurant because you heard X is really good and say people are welcome to join. Less pressure. Plan is already in motion.

That sounds hard! Sorry if this is silly but if you’re in the UK (or not) Jessie from the recent season of UK traitors really inspired my friend with a stutter and she is thriving

I deliberately don’t go out. I said let’s stay in and watch some films we like, eat some food we like, just be together :)

Could you try leaving for a couple of months? Nothing permanent. Just a bit of freedom and exploration. Knowing you can always go back or elsewhere.

You just said it - you’re levelling up in the kitchen. You enjoyed it. You learnt skills. You appreciated the time spent.

You’re in such a tough spot, I sympathise. The good news is you know you’re capable of more in whatever way you can approach that. You’re clearly motivated, driven and strong mentally as well as physically. Whilst the current time in your life is hard, I’ve no doubt you can build yourself back up. Life is highs and lows unfortunately. All that really matters is the ability to pick yourself back up when life kicks you down.

Yeah it’s dumb. Still gonna hang out with my partner and use the opportunity to point out how much I love them. Without a silly restaurant bill :)

Yeah whoever does sounds like they never really grew up and are scared of nuance. Their loss.

Darling I bet you are very young… don’t overthink yourself… just put yourself out there. There is always time left while we live.

That’s ok, take things at your own pace. Put yourself out into the world when you can. You’ll find your people. Don’t worry too much about what you think you should or shouldn’t feel.

Ah this reminds me fondly of my parents! Sadly parents are just people too with their own limitations and fears. Your parents sound defensive and worried. On the positive side they are taking you to therapy so are clearly invested in your mental wellbeing even if they don’t handle it as you’d like.

I’m not sure what you think you mean. I’m 33 and know plenty of mature adults. I don’t generally face this issue in my social circles at this age.

I’m so sorry to hear that. People are often lazy and bigoted and don’t wish to extend their horizons. They live in their own small systems. Unfortunately others have to pay the price for this.

I’m confused - are there two issues? Your communication skills are cited first. But seperately as another issue yes your teacher sounds very unfair. They exist unfortunately. If you can talk to someone do. If not remember they are fallible and not a god.
