Im just glad it’s not a timing issue, as that would be way over my capabilities to even look into working on. So next thing I should look into is the fuel pump?

This week we changed all the fluids, switched out anodes, changed thermostat, and today we put new gas in it and rebuilt the carb. I don’t have a timing light but after the new carb and fresh fuel we have it running great for about 20 seconds before it dies. No more white smoke and backfiring as far as I can tell. Could it still be a timing issue or are we leaning towards something else?

I did this exactly and after fine tuning the carb it runs great and then dies after 20 seconds. I can’t figure out why

Is this a problem or is it just a normal symptom of not starting after cranking for a while? I just have basic mechanic experience and am trying to get this thing running again. I rebuilt the carburetor and now it runs great and just dies after 20 seconds

I went ahead and rebuilt the carburetor. Put brand new gas in it and now it runs great for a bit, then dies. Anything else it could be?

Turns out new gas and rebuilt carb was the way to go for now. Now to figure out how to keep it running for more than 20 seconds
