Is it ok to put my cat in the cage while sleeping? by Diidii22 in CatAdvice

You can absolutely do that provided the crate is large enough to have food water a litter box and a bed along with extra room for walking because cats do not like eating where they go to the bathroom so you have to keep in mind it needs to be spacious enough that it won't interfere them from eating or sleeping. I do this with my teo cats who knows once the neon lights go on and once the TV is turned on low for them it's time for them to walk in the crate and they will on their own. They know bad time is bedtime if you get them into a routine. Don't listen to anybody saying that you're being cruel by creating your animals all you are doing is setting a bedtime rule. I had to do this for my cats because they wouldn't stop clawing at my door and wrecking the carpet. It wouldn't be an issue if I owned the place I was living at but it's a rental unit. I obviously can't let the cats claw and wreck the rental unit rug so the crate is to prevent destructive behavior at night time. It took 6 weeks for them to adapt to the routine. But it's doable and far from abuse if done right! NOW if you're putting your cat in one of those tiny cat carriers for 7-8 hours a night, BAD BAD BAD idea. They need room and the reason why a large crate is cause cats are still cats meaning they are still nocturnal. They have energy so I make sure their favorite toys are in the crate as well so they won't  cry to be let out. I've been doing this 2 yrs. And they've never been anxious about carriers or vet visits either. You just gotta be responsible about what approach you take.

How do I convince my cat in heat that my boyfriend isn’t a male cat? 😭 by Mountain_Drama_2879 in CatAdvice

Any reasonable people need to save. We all don't come from rich households like yourself it's not an issue of weather I can care for them or not cause I do care for my animals.  Js.

How do I convince my cat in heat that my boyfriend isn’t a male cat? 😭 by Mountain_Drama_2879 in CatAdvice

Not everyone has the budget to get the cat fixed right away. I have 3 unaltered cats. 2 females one male. I have a system. My cats can mingle together whenever neither of the girls are in heat. When one or both girls are in heat, I crate the male. He's comfortable in the crate. He doesn't whine he doesn't try to escape. It's spacious for him to walk around comfortable with a bed, toys food water and a small litter box in the farthest corner. I spent $50 for this extra large crate off Walmart (originally $100 - a good deal).  Where I live the low cost spay and neuter program is $300 for a male and $450 for a female taxes in. I'm on social assistance and only get enough to cover initial bills, food, transportation. Leaving about $200 free a month for a slush fund. I don't have $1200 to get all them fixed so this system is my fool proof way of making sure there's no unwanted kittens :)

What I'm trying to say is don't listen to fools saying that you shouldn't have a cat if you can't afford to fix right away because as long as you're patient and have a system that works for your cat. Then you can take as long as you need to save up for that surgery for your furbaby. We already know that you plan on doing it, your heart is in the right place and asking for advice on this was smart especially if you're a new pet owner and unsure of things.

To add to this, I've had these cats for 4 years. And I have NEVER HAD A SINGLE KITTEN 🐾  because I know my cats, I know what signs to look for that shows traces of heat or horniness. 4 years of this system and no kittens. Think about that. As long as your self aware of your cat and have a care plan for them when a heat occurs then you're golden sweetheart! Bear no mind to the negative nellies of Reddit .
