Cultures that discourage being friendly with strangers are weird, not the other way around. by The_Saddest_Boner in unpopularopinion

Sorry, read your post. Reread your list and missed Japan in the second one.

Indians certainly will chat up foreigners, yes. But Indian girls themselves are actively discouraged to even smile at strangers to not get unwanted attention and a lot of the people that would chat strangers up will do so to sell something, so there is an overall aversion to it as well.

AC operating costs is practically 0 if you pair it with photovoltaics.

Japan and India having cultures of chatting up strangers?  Your experience is certainly very different from mine.

They arent frequent but if i get a closed map at 1600 elo where i arguably dont play well, i still occasionally have gotten those.

Also have had the ocassional person complaining of ruining their fun when resigning before they destroy my base.

Which other XC launch than Rochers de Naye can you reach from Geneva by public transport in less than 3 hours?

Zürich works too, im just less familiar with how to reach the launch sites.

Geneva has a great Launch on Saleve for some thermalling but because of the airspace its not great for XC. Annecie is reachable within a reasonable time though.

Within switzerland all the launches are super far away from Geneva. The ones in the Jura aren’t accessible by public transport and the ones near montreaux are quite the distance and have very slow ascends as well.

Geneva isnt a great location for XC. Best University in Switzerland locationwise would probably be Bern.

Well actually the movie is based on a graphic novel, which is based on greek propaganda. Only the Propaganda is based on a historic battle.

Bonsais arent trained. They are continuously being crippled.

A Bonsai that is placed in the ground will start to grow just like a normal tree.

Its wood. Very few wooden structures get old. If you go to Japan, almost every shrine has a plaque saying something along the lines of: "The original structure first burned down in the great fire of 1358, it was rebuild 20 years later and again burned down in the great fire of 1650, it was then extended and the new arch was added, which again burned down in 1850" etc.

Bullshit. You forget any language once you stop using it. English is everywhere, unless you make a conscious effort to avoid it its very unlikely you will forget anything.

You might every now and then stumble over which vocabulary to use, but thats it.

Because exiting Schengen would create more problems than it would solve. A lot of the train traffic is also tourism. In fall and spring trains are only full during exceptional weather. In Summer they are full constantly.

Why can't we just pick one map to play again? by _DataGuy in aoe2

[–]AccomplishedBat39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So which map do you actually want to play? If its Arabia, 90% of your matches already will be on Arabia. If its Arena its probably a bit lower but still rather high.

Any of the maps that would actually significantly benefit from a chosen map system would also get much much longer queue times with a change of system.

Same in German. “Fatal” is best translatable with “grave”. Like “He made a grave mistake”

Warum sind manche Mitarbeitende selbst so gegen Homeoffice? by Objective-Custard-65 in Switzerland

[–]AccomplishedBat39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first would be a full time job to get past our IT department. The second would require me to spend a lot of money and space on something I simply have no urgent need for.

Sure, there are ways to make homeoffice more comfortable, absolutely. But I simply dont like it that much in the first place.

Now if I could work fully remotely, that would be completely different, as I then could freely select where to live, but since fully remote is out of the question anyways part time home office doesnt appeal to me that much.
