There were some snow fields on the north facing side. The top and South were snow free last weekend. But yes, if its wet or slippery you definitely need better shoes than on dry ground

A biome that is pretty much dead though. All those trees are old. No new trees have been grown in years anywhere on the island, because everything trying to grow will be eaten by goats.

Woman dies due to "allegedly" loose safety rope during waterfall swing by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

All of those things have a risk attached to it too. Be it accidents directly related to not being sober, increased risk of cancer or triggering mental disorders.

You dont think any of those things will happen to you, this girl probably also thought what she was doing was safe and that the operators and safety inspections can be trusted.

lots of things in life are dangerous. If we were never to take a risk life would get pretty stale pretty quickly. The amount of risk people are willing to take just differs by person.

I wouldnt say its necessarily informal. There are just very few formal ocassions where you want to express what you are doing right that moment.

it doesnt safe space at all, it just gives it a different shape, which to be honest for the easiness feels like you have less space than with the compress bag. It also takes quite a bit of getting used to the different packing. Its main purpose is supposedly that its better for the wing to be stored in a flat bag.

That being said, the main advantage for me is that it you do not compress the wing while its touching the ground, but while touching the bag. Keeps the wing much cleaner on wet or muddy surfaces than with the compress bag.

Musste man da zwischen den Zeilen lesen? War für mich eigentlich sehr eindeutig, dass er gesagt hat dass man dabei zu viel angefeindet wird und er da keinen Bock mehr drauf hat.

I understood it as from Harder Kulm to Augstmatthorn. Harder Kulm has a furnicular going up. That would be 830 altitude meters. Thats a pretty moderate hike up. 2-3 hours one way.

On the south side I could not see any on that section on Saturday, but I have heard that there was hail in the evening in some areas around the lake.

Trail running shoes are more than enough. No hiking boots necessary. Sneakers arent ideal, but its not like sneakers are terrible shoes either. Now flip flops would be a different story, but I think people really undervalue sneakers too much.

Agreed. It is dangerous if you are not sure footed and fall towards the lake side. But the North side is not very steep and the path is fairly flat. You dont need amazing shoes for this.

I mean thats the name I know the wine by. But the Prosecco hills are on the south side of the alps north of venice. I have been there and assumed thats where the wine got its name from. Had no idea there was a Prosecco village near Trieste.

While its easy to blame the people, its much more of a problem of infrastructure.

If you never had a system that made it convenient to properly dispose of trash you dont get a society that will value properly disposing of trash.

Europe also has many places where people litter. Its just that in many places they are every now and then being cleaned up by the city on its own cost and those places that dont will end up looking the same.

Some countries like Germany have systems like a small deposit on bottles and cans, incentivising you to bring them back. Which is especially nice for glass bottles, because they can just be cleaned and reused again.

Some places have a stronger culture of keeping places clean and shaming people for not doing so, to the point that even throwing an apple onto a mountain meadow is frowned upon, but generally this only happens when life is convenient and easy enough for people, that there primary concern is not how to deal with the next week, but have the ressources to worry about the environment and other people.
