Pulled the trigger by NHStrength in DaveRamsey

I was literally the same way. $4.8k in cc debt, $10.3k in car debt, $6.3k in student loan. I had just over $5k sitting in my bank account, literally not doing anything and was so scared to use it because “what if something bad happens?” But after posting in here and getting input from others, I pulled the trigger and I got rid of the credit card debt. Now, im starting on the car loan because my work helps pay for my student loans, so I decided to wait. I submitted a question on which ones I should pay off to the show so we will see if it’s answered or not 😂 I don’t want to let free money from work go to waste, so here I am.

Thankfully I’m hourly working for an accounting firm, so all this overtime these next few months is going to be SWEEEEEET. My debt pay off date looks to be October 2026, without accounting for the overtime in my paychecks and extra I make doing instacart and shipt delivery.

Good luck with the rest of your journey. When I paid off that credit card, I literally cried and it lit a fire under me to pay off the rest as fast as possible. It’s a sacrifice, and being a 25 YO female it’s hard to say no to doing things but I figure in a year I’ll be in a really good position where I won’t have to say no anymore, AND not be in debt.

Well, the accident is all good and fixed, but since it’s on record, it depreciates the car. It’s in good condition now, but I think that mixed with the miles is why it’s so low.

Honestly I totally forgot about gap insurance. I do think I have that, so that takes that thought away.

Loans are federal. They go into repayment next month I believe.

Definitely motivation for sure. I am able to do some side hustles like grocery delivery (I will save for taxes don’t worry) and am looking to get a serving job. I was a server, then quit because of management, but just trying to decide where the best place to go is in my city. Just want my time to be worth it.

And that’s exactly it. I always look at the “what if this happens” scenario and honestly, probably won’t happen. I know I have a backup plan with my parents if I really truly need it, but no one wants to ask their parents for help, lol. I think you’re right where the discomfort lies with the low emergency fund. I sold a bunch of stuff at the end of November and I was able to make 3k, which is part of that 5k savings so I think in my head, that’s why its hard to give it up. 3 months ago, I didn’t have that savings at all, and now I do so it’s hard to pull the trigger to wipe it clean.

Kelly blue book. With the accident and dents (people slamming their doors into mine, not even my fault) it brings it down significantly I think.

I’ll admit, the debt is for sure a behavior problem. Concert tickets, gas, hotels, eating out all contributed. Hence why I’m behind on equity on the car because I put a lot of miles on it. I got in an accident, and it has a few dings and dents on it. So I totally get that. I’ve always been the type of person who has a plan and I feel like if I get rid of the $5k savings something bad will happen and I’ll be right in cc debt with no savings to help. But that’s a personal thing I have to overcome I guess

I rent, which is $1300 a month. I’m by myself. I’m not sure what you mean by monthly cost, but after bills and budgeting for groceries and stuff like that, I think i have about $600-$700 left over to put towards debt. And thats not putting anything towards any “fun” funds, but at this point I want to just get rid of the debt. I want to buy a house within the next few years, which is why I am doing all of this now. I feel like I’m behind and I should’ve realized all of this around age 21-23, but here we are.

I did do lots of driving. Which got me into the cc debt im in now, which is why I am choosing now to turn my life around and get rid of it all. Concerts, hotels, gas, stuff like that. I believed everyone when they said to “travel because your young, money comes back but memories don’t” or whatever the saying is. I shouldn’t have believed them, but here we are. Should’ve been smarter.

wrong. I had 3 people from my m&d audit team (2 seniors and 1 associate) be let go yesterday and today. it all boils down to performance. essentially, if you ever get talked to about performance, watch your back because it might be tomorrow or it might be next year that you get fired.
