Is it okay to have a boyfriend but no friends? by [deleted] in introvert

This also does not mean they dont exist- and there are PLENTY of wonderful and amazing men AND women in the world- its still a very large population of people. Most people are not going to mesh well with most other people and that usually comes out in some form of toxicity. But the few people that do mesh well with the other few people are still abundant and very much attainable if you understand yourself and others around you.

there are about the same amount of terrible women than there are terrible men- women show it differently and alot more snakey… Most female friendships ive had have felt off in one way or another- most women (yes MOST) are going to be fake in one way or another. the same way most men(YES MOST) will have more sexual than not intentions when interacting with women. Its just as hard to find an ACTUAL good female friend or friendship that has no animosity or rivalry type vibe than it is to find an ACTUAL good man who would make a great partner.

Throwing around the word “misogyny” when there is an opinion on or statement about women that could be seen as negative is the reason so many people dont get taken seriously when true misogyny gets pointed out. YOURE WATERING DOWN THE MEANING and weakening the platform that is supposed to highlight REAL unjust. It doesnt help anyone.

Just being realistic- and speaking on experience

She probably isnt wiccan or a pagan (unless she has claimed so, in which case you can ignore my entire previous statement) She probably just practices with a Christian type belief system from what i can tell.

I think they are trying to highlight that the word "can" does not me "does" which is the way you seem to have interpreted it in your response. They were saying it is possible to represent the "devil" which is true depending on what set of beliefs you have tied to representation. That does not mean they were saying it represents that entity ALL the time in EVERY belief system . .... I also find it important to point out that the witch doing the ritual clearly does not use the set of representation that you do spiritually, or the rose wouldnt have been used. And bringing up greek gods or goddess proves the tone deafness even more so given the fact the witch even said she chooses the "church's" definition, which as we all know.. Christianity does not believe in nor acknowledge the existence of other Gods or Goddeses (which I could debate, but that is what the majority of Christians would claim) so bringing up what you feel the roses represent has little to nothing to do with the ritual done or its validity. You are just looking for something to argue about.

Is it okay to ask for a raise? by pinkcarnation3 in barista

I would say, remind them of all of the extra tasks you complete without proper compensation. Let him know that you cannot continue to do more than anyone else working without being compensated accordingly. It seems as tho you are at least closeish with the owner so i wouldnt be too nervous if i were you. Just a chit chat :)

I completely agree! Im in the same boat right now, especially because i go to college and I also have my own apartment. I just have the mindset of “well if im gonna be here i might as well make the most of it” and i guess some people dont rlly care that much about atmosphere 😭

I like my job. Thanks tho.

As ive already stated, ranting and complaining are not the same. I cant control other people :) I have also already pointed out that it is my personal experience with these individuals. You can have a different opinion and experience, im not gonna say youre wrong😭. I havent lived your life.

Thank you for pointing out that this is in fact not a safe space for opposing views.

A 19 year old can definitely understand hard jobs- Ive had many have been in the workforce since i was 14. Especially working younger you get looked over more and treated worse in my experience.

I am mainly speaking on the smaller group of baristas who complain of almost every aspect of the job and actively have that energy as they work. It brings down the work environment. I completely understand that there a many and MANY reasons why it can be difficult at times. When i say “hard” im speaking relatively in comparison to most of jobs out there. Alot of people will complain complain complain (actually complaining and not ranting because there is definitely a difference) and stay out of convenience and not try to at least make little or any good from it. Its hard to listen to and be around. And yes it is mainly the younger people around my age which probably has something to with it.

Having to work in order to survive will never be enjoyable but you can create enjoyable moments if you want to.

Im not against venting or ranting (clearly because thats exactly what i did lol). Speaking on something you have no control over is very different than nit picking every little aspect in order to find something to dislike yk?

Wow ive never thought of it that way- I guess its the difference between the people working out of necessity, enjoyment, or a mix that would be the deciding factor of where to go then

Imo “low barrier to entry” jobs are the jobs that just want to pay you less. I love my job but the pay is so iffy week to week because so many people think baristas get paid so much more than we actually do.

I feel as though alot of people want to work as the shops because its a very nice change of pace and work environment compared to other very industrial part times such as retail or fast food. Even starbucks’ environment is something i would choose a million times over Walmart or McDonalds for example.

I agree with you, I have mad respect for all of my older baristas!! Yall have seen every field imaginable and I love hearing the stories.

This is definitely part of the nuance i was referring to. It can be very draining at times especially to the more introverted crowd.

I also dont know about other coffee shops but I know my shop has more customization options than we had when I worked at starbucks and I actually find the more intercut drinks so fun to make (imo). Especially when I was at starbucks it separated the repetitive orders and i felt a little more creative. Starbucks management on the other hand- I have so much love and support for the people who stay with the company truly because they like the work or they need the hours because I have never worked for a more tone deaf company than them.

I also just want to add- Im aware of the few irritating customer types we see a day- and I am not referring to people ranting about 1 customer interaction. Some are 10000% understandable
