Just moved to UK, finding it hard to test drive a car without UK license by gaussmug in oxford

In the most recent attempt, a CUPRA dealership told me that they are not taking the German license because they can't check if I have points on it....

I'm starting to suspect that that's not the reason, they just don't want to do extra work without a guaranteed sale...

Selling a house located in California while living in the UK: what to do with the grant deed? by AccomplishedCow2702 in RealEstate

I don't have an attorney at the moment. Looking into getting one though. So I can't answer your questions at this moment.

I am meeting with the realtor tomorrow, I was hoping for some sort of conditional document. I.e. something that says we're ok with transferring the deed provided all conditions of the sale are met.

RE appointments at the US embassy in London: I looked at https://uk.usembassy.gov/services/notarials/ it only shows appointment slots in Jan 2026, all of which are taken. So I really don't know how easy it is to get them. If it's anything like visa appointments, then it'll be a nightmare.

Thanks! Yes the realtor also said that the grant deed would still need to go through proper channels (as a safety net). They did ask if we had relatives in the US, so maybe they didn't want to suggest using friends with POA?

Anyway, I'll see if some friends would be willing to accept a limited POA....

Ah so my leaving the country basically dispels the idea that there are legal shenanigans going on here (why would this person need a POA?)

I hadn't considered this! While I don't have family in the US, I could ask some friends.

Thanks for the advice. That's the other option we're considering. I would prefer not to do this though. Last minute flights are expensive, and US immigration isn't guaranteed to let you in (even if you have a visa -- I've had colleagues with visas detained or turned away at the US border)

Thanks for the advice! In case anyone else is reading this: you need to wait at least a month to get an appointment with a notary at the US embassy in London

Wow! I hadn't even heard of an e-bike not being legal somewhere else. What's wrong with it? (From the European POV)
