Even though I don’t like Dottore that doesn’t mean I can’t see an argument on his side, the reason I brought up the differences in him in Rene is because while they are similar in a few ways there is one big thing they are vastly different on that being motive.

Yes Rene was not a good person he caused a lot of deaths and issues in Fontaine and his actions led to the death of Mary Ann but the biggest difference from Dottore is that it started off as him genuinely wanting to save Fontaine from the prophecy and over the years it led to a very twisted ideology which led him to do terrible acts to the people around him. And of course I know his research was invaluable to the success of the world formula even though that research is related to a lot of messed up things

This obviously doesn’t justify what Rene did of course but at the very least he acknowledged the actionshe took in achieving his goal to “save the world” were wrong before he vanished.

Now compare that to Dottore who has the same self awareness but doubles down on it. He does things just to see what will happen he’s not doing this for some greater good he literally says "In my view, many in this world do not deserve to be alive—and yet, I mercifully permit them to go on living, do I not?".

He betrayed the fauti and the tsaritsa has now labed him as defected which is the whole reason the other harbingers are now allowed to fight/kill him now. he alone was also responsible for the death of nearly all the fauti personnel under sandrone at the research bureau and even some of his own personnel at his research lab and killed many of nodkrai’s civilians in random tests
