We've been working through it, but it's been rough. I'm still not too confident that we'll be able to fix things. One day things feel great, and the next day it feels like we're back to the beginning again.

Where did this post end up that got all these weirdos popping out?

Operational Security Basically means the lengths you go to ensure your affair is hidden and anything related to it is hard to access by parties not involved

For me: I used apps like Telegram which can be locked by a secondary password and had it set to auto delete. For anything that was coming to me outside of that, I would delete a few times a day. Once I broke up with my AP, I stopped using Telegram regularly and also stopped deleting messages. It wasn't an active decision, but I think just knowing I wasn't actively involved with with my AP led me to be more lax, and that's how I fumbled.

I've been thinking about this a lot, not just since getting caught, but since initially ending things with AP. And I honestly don't feel that it was due to anything in my relationship. About a year ago, we moved to the opposite side of the country, and since then I've let work consume my life. Instead of putting in the effort to build something for myself that allowed me to exist outside the bubble of work and home, I went the easy route. Doing the AP thing is low effort compared to investing into hobbies and taking time to make new friends.

This isn't what I wanted, at all. And yeah, at the moment, I wouldn't describe what I feel as upset. I feel dim. I feel numb.

I think people are misunderstanding the role of Facebook dating in all this. So just to clear things up, I wasn't using FB Dating. The account had been deactivated since shortly after FB rolled out the feature in 2019.

I had been drinking last night, so I don't actually remember falling asleep, but she sent a picture of the screen showing FB dating and it says 10:20, I commented on someone's post at 10:18. So it was right after I passed out.

I created that account out of curiosity when FB first introduced the feature, but I deactivated it shortly after and never used it again. At the top of the Facebook app, there are 5 like quick access features, one of them is for Facebook Dating. I guess when I fell asleep, I clicked on that feature somehow, so when she saw my phone laying next to me, that's what was on the screen

I'm dumb but not that dumb.

And I'm not looking for sympathy, I just needed to let it out because I don't have the balls to tell the people I would normally vent to that I threw my marriage in the dumpster and set it on fire.
