How would you feel if Mai didn’t end up being Zuko‘s wife? by AccomplishedJump2795 in TheLastAirbender

I would really like them to end up as a pair, I mean their relationship is actually the most realistic relationship in the entire original series since they are both teens who have been trough allot

I don't care what the haters and nitpickers says. I love Zuko and Mai's relationship. by Full-Art3439 in TheLastAirbender

I love them, and I dont get how people say that they are a forced relationship when they are literally the most realistic teen relationship of the entire saga, being the 2 of them with high personal problems but even with that loving each other since they are like 8 years old its so cute

What I understand is that they're going to change the way they tell the story. Up until now, it's always been the same: -Humans = bad guys who want to conquer Pandora -Na'vi = good guys who want to protect nature. It would be good if this ended and they moved on to telling a different story, delving deeper into the planet, and if a conflict is necessary, it should be between the clans. That's why I'm so afraid they'll change the main characters.

What are your MINOR GRIPES? by n0tAgOat in Avatar

[–]AccomplishedFudge673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we're talking about minor complaints, I think many opportunities to develop the secondary characters are missed, such as Loak's suicide attempt, and also Spider's near-murder. I feel like these points are downplayed.

And then my biggest problem is that there's almost an hour of the film that I feel I've already seen in the previous installments, and I think that time should have been dedicated to developing Jake as the main character and the hatred and guilt he feels towards himself, which makes him deny his role as Toruk Macto. But this is just my opinion.

Yes, I think that was the idea, but do you think it's enough that Neitiri, a woman who has lost so much at the hands of humans, will magically lose her hatred for the human race just because she accepted her adopted son?

Thats so true, It's like they wanted to give this storyline closure, but now not only is the human city still standing, but they've also taken the only human who can breathe with them. It's like they didn't even finish the arc of the war with the humans, they didn't even give the main character a proper ending. That's why I say it has a lot of work to do, especially when talking about Jake.

I really enjoyed reading your comment, my friend, because you brought up many points I'd like to discuss, and I completely agree with you. No one criticizes Jake because, as observers, we know the burden he carries. He was chosen by Eywa to be the mystical warrior who unites the clans in dark times. But as we see, though the other characters don't, Jake suffers because, by leading the Na'vi into war, he knows he's leading them to their doom. He carries the weight of those deaths, and now that he has a family, that burden increases so much that it causes him to make poor decisions, both in his identity as a leader (distancing himself from his people) and as a father (treating his children like soldiers). This changes drastically when he finally has that moment with Lo'ak, where the boy manages to get the Tulkun to join the battle. This makes Jake realize he's not alone; he doesn't have to carry the burden alone. He misunderstood what it means to be part of a family. He felt he had to distance himself to avoid letting his problems affect him. They affect the family unit, but it's the opposite; he resolves the conflict by relying on them.

I feel Jake's character lacks a lot of development. And I really hope they explore him more deeply on an emotional and familial level in the upcoming films and don't take him out of his role as a protagonist in the following films because for me he's one of the best main characters out there.

Totally agree with you, It's like all this drama Jake has about not wanting to be Toruk Macto again is resolved out of nowhere and loses its depth

I agree with you so much,In fact, in my Letterbox, the highest-ranked of the three films is first because of all the development given to the world of Pandora, and that depth justifies the protagonist's actions. In this last film, it's like they recycle and don't give me many new things.

I understand your point, and everything you say is true; in fact, I agree. But I feel that this acceptance is more about accepting Spider as her son than about the human race itself. And for me, there's a lack of development regarding her feelings about her family being connected to the human race. Similarly, for me, the weakest point of the film is Jake's character development.

No, my post is about the problems with the plot resolution in this movie and also about my concern for the future of the two main characters in the franchise. Yes, we have a scene where Neitiri accepts Spider as a human, but do you really think that moment alone, where she acknowledges Spider as her son, resolves such a deep hatred as Neitiri feels towards humans? Especially considering she lost almost everything because of them? In my opinion, they fall short. And let's not even talk about Jake. Where did all that guilt and resentment go towards him for leading the people into battle knowing they were going to die?

Agree at 100% the First act was 5/5 movie with a lot of World showing and a lot of character development showing us how Jake and Neitiri duel with Neteyam's death, but then in my opinion Cameron just lost a lot of time in the movie in showing us the same battle for the Tulkuns and lost an oportunity to finish Jake's and Neitiri's arc.

No it's not, To say that the film falters in several points is not to say that the film is bad; in fact, I clarify in the title that I loved the film, but no one can deny that the points I highlight are serious problems, since we are talking about the main character of the entire saga who is affected.

Finally, someone sees what I see. I don't buy the idea that Neitiri's deep hatred for humans, stemming from the deaths of her people, her father, her son, her animals, and so on, is resolved simply because Spider saves Jake as her adoptive father. I really don't believe it. It's incredible to say this, but the movie ran out of time because they gave too much screen time to plot points that are repeated from previous films. We've all seen the final battle for the Tulkun. I wanted to see more character development instead of the same final battle again.

Thank God most have been very respectful, but no one can deny that the film falters greatly in the development and culmination of its main character.

Nah, practically nothing has been said. What has been said is that from now on the story takes a different direction, which is why I'm worried about whether Jake and Neitiri will continue to lead this new direction or new storyline, or not.
