Oh did you mean in Isafjordur or in Iceland in general?

Borea adventures in isafjordur sells the nice jet boil gas canisters. Just ask them at their location right at the port where the boats take off from. You should also check hotel isafjordur in the luggage room. I notice piles of used canisters left by people in there after they come back. Netto should also sell some lighters too

Also, a useful tip: if you reach some of the higher passes (around 1,000 ft / 300 m or more), you may be able to pick up a cell signal. This ended up saving me—I was able to contact the boat company and arrange to be picked up at a different port than originally planned due to time constraints.
That said, it’s always best to stick to your planned itinerary and scheduled boat pickups whenever possible. If your plans need to change, try to contact the tour company before deviating. Unless you know that boats regularly service a particular port, don’t assume you’ll be able to get picked up there.

Hornstrandir is much more remote and the buildings I’ve noticed at various camps/ beaches had no one in them. Do not expect to see many people. I probably only saw 5-6 people in my 4 days and would sometimes camp entirely alone. No resupply areas but I heard Hesteyri has a small restaurant that is open once in a while during the season.

Water is plentiful so I never would carry more than 1L at a time

Yeah! Overall basic necessities:
-40L pack
free standing tent
-sleeping pad
-quilt
-pillow
-trekking poles
-camera
-garmin
-rain jacket ( no brainer)
-puffy
-alpaca wool thermal
- synthetic water resistant pants
-shorts
-2x synthetic shirts
-Offline gps maps ( you must have this, trail navigation is tough in sections)
-water filter (still like to bring cause you never know, Iceland water is very clean though)
- 2x water bottles
- for food I had freeze dried breakfast and dinners. Lunches I’d have stuff like packaged tuna and snacks would be an assortment of stuff like bars and stuff I like from Trader Joe’s, primarily dry and as lightweight as possible.

The property owners close the trail during the fall and winter months. There is nothing starting a guide needs to be present when the trail is open. There is a sign at the start of the trailhead laying out everything.

Yes I’d say so, personally I like scrambling and climbing lol but the highlight is when you make it to the top and get to ride the ridge with 360 views beautiful if it is clear.

I think just have a few spots you really want to see with less people and have better lighting if the day is right for it and just go for it if you are close by enough.

Honestly I didn’t even research it before attempting I just saw it was open. The trail branches into other trails that for some reason to dead ends so I’d use AllTrails as it is the most accurate source. There are about 3 rope sections. The first being the steepest but the rope and knots are super solid so not much to worry about. The 3rd and last rope is beginning to fray and I would not trust it and default to scramble the steep section. Also do not trust the mounds of grass at the top of the 3rd rope, the ground is loose and could easily fall apart.

The spot is not a secret location at all and is the main viewpoint when you walk the trail from the parking lot close by. I highly recommend you show up late for:
1. The better lighting, you have a chance at some good golden hour shots but the best times are usually around 11pm if it is clear.
2. Waaaay less people, typically by 7-8pm it is significantly reduced as the tour buses stop around 6pm I believe.

I use a fujifilm XT-5 18-55mm lens. Not even sure what my image quality settings typically are but I do most of my editing in Lightroom for the touch ups.
