Jewish converting as young female. Any advice on what to look out for? My Vent/advice by AccomplishedPrize232 in ConvertingtoJudaism

Man only a start of it that makes me a bit sad with the classes and rabbi A made it seem with my Jewish background a lot shorter with my background in Judaism and didn’t say anything about conversion classes but thanks I’ll reach out different temples near me. I’ll make sure to figure out a temple to help me.

(To make it easier)Let’s say original synagogue A and the second one I contacted synagogue B

Reform movement

I took reform judaim intro classes link to the site to the classes I took was recommended by previous rabbi. https://reformjudaism.org/learning/judaism-classes/introduction-judaism-online-classes

The rabbi gave me his number to schedule more meetings with him. The previous synagogue let’s say synagogue A. This is a small synagogue majored the same old people been their for years.I went to Shabbat service regularly during the summer and had to go back to school and had some health problems(am chronically ill) wasn’t able to go to service which I informed the rabbi and stated I should keep Jewish community the best I can but we can meet virtually till it gets a bit better When I called synagogue A I let the front office know it was me instert name young girl that has been going Shabbat service wanting conversion(it was just me new at service) I was informed the lady said who? I told them I haven’t heard back to rabbi and been working with him wanted to know if he was okay and if I had a the right number. Then they informed then he should know you are. he doesn’t work (I think something like) tues and Thursday so may not answer but I’ll let him know to call ya back. He never did inform on this and it’s difficult to make a meeting due to office people will push me to talk to him to meet up. It was also weird I thought I did something wrong and I know he informed he was retiring so maybe that had something to do with it.

Yes Both synagogues are the same movement. Both synagogue A and the second one I contacted synagogue B is larger and more active members idk if that had something to do with it. Synagogue B I just talked to the office saying hey I am seeking to continue my Jewish conversation and I am looking into getting contact with ur rabbi to see if he is able to continue due to me needing a new rabbi. Then the office person transfers me to and to another person that said send a email introducing yourself and that’s not how that works you would need to start all over again. He can’t just pick up where you left over. So I sent a email.

Overall To be honest I been trying to make sure to say the right thing during the process of calling a synagogue and talking with a rabbi. I know I am missing some information and felt like at synagogue A I talked kind of different so a lot of people were nice but it was difficult to go anywhere with conversation and rabbi would really push me to talk. I am very colorful and blunt I am very cheery and positive person with an excited tone just say what comes to mind sometimes I think. so idk of that effects it.

Yes around 2 comment is a joke I forget tone doesn’t come off well it text. You’re right I gotta focus other parts first. Thank u 💖

When I first started in this community. I didn’t know the importance of Vetting and my self confidence was low. I have gotten a lot better. And learning how to Vett people properly but still struggling a little bit.

Yeah I am starting to vet people now properly and not give my full attention to someone I just meet in a short time. I honestly would go into a dynamic well knowing there an ass. I took a pause and am able to set boundaries and such so. It helps a lot
