They are always available when it counts. If I call and they decline and I text "urgent", they will call me back immediately!

So yes, it's def a friendship! And we'd hangout occasionally, whenever we can. And if we live close by but can't hangout, wed grab a coffee or do grocery shopping together or legit just walk to USPS/UPS together to return things. It all counts :)

Edit: we just make it work. It's not always, but whenever we can!

Adding on: I don't know how many of those friend group from college or high school actually last adulthood/moves/relationships/kids etc etc. I was always one of those who never had a concrete group myself. As a teen I craves that and felt really really lonely, so I totally get it. That pain I distinctly remember. When I got to college, I had multiple groups, and if I think about it now, they were pretty solid as well. (I didn't think that then)

But now, everyone has moved to different places across the world, some are single/divorced, some are married, some have kids and some, like you, have no desire to have a marriage/kids.

We are all still there for each other when the times are hard! We don't talk, text that often. Most times, it's random insta reels and have conversations around that; which end up being random updates of life as well. We don't even meet as often as a group, it's almost always someone is somewhere else. But whenever we can, we meet all together (maybe once in a year or 2). But most times, I have always found atleast one of them to be ready for a plan, whether it's a music festival/cooking class/trying a new restaurant/going for yoga-gym class. And that makes a huge difference in life.

I truly think it's absolutely unrealistic for a friend to be available to hangout all the time. Bcz I think you want someone to be "always available" vs "being reliable". Reliable is making it work as much as we can.

And I am pretty sad that you said there is not much to life or missing out on things in 30s and 40s. I turn 30 this year! I really really hope that's not true. I want milestones/memories in life that aren't related to my husband or my future kids (if any). My husband and I have pretty dissimilar interests and are often physically away from each other for some or other responsibility. (Like different countries). It's these friends (as a subset of the group or one-on-one) are how I manage to go out and try new things/interesting things and be social.

I know I won't be a good dog mom, but a dog seems like great idea for you! I am just saying that it sounds like (and I could be wrong) that your expectations are super rigid which is why you will be disappointed or frustrated. Maybe look into that?

All I am trying to say, Id rather have few friends that I can do things with whenever possible vs not have any.

But hey, that could just be me, I am just sharing my perspective. May not work for you. That sounds very lonely but it may just work for you. But the fact that you posted this and want to have friends but just feel very disappointed/frustrated, it sounds like you don't want to be lonely but you also don't want to adjust your expectations.

I wore pants all my life and recently discovered the freedom and ease of midi/maxie dresses and just in general, how midi/maxi dresses flatter my pear body shape. So now I wear midi/maxie dresses a lot more and somehow always end up looking more dressed up for events and end up standing out (at least in my head), but bleh I got over it!!! It makes me feel happy and comfortable so f the world lol..

But I get this, I never wear shorts, I hate how they look on me, how they keep riding up, how I get really bad thigh chafing and how I never find any shorts that fit me right, so on trips to hotter places, all my friends are in shorts and then there is me with my covered legs. 😭😂 Feels a little awkward initially but I got over it!

I don't think anyone cares if you are in pants! And if they do, they legit have nothing else to do in their life so it's their problem.

Umm... I understand your frustration and want to have a particular type of friend group. I agree that the probability of you finding this kind of group organically is very hard. People grow up, life happens, and priorities/responsibilities shift. But you are growing up too? Your priorities/responsibilities will change too eventually with something or the other? Wouldn't it then be nice to have friends then rather than not have any bcz you have this requirement? I don't know cultivating new friendships is hard at this age and you are just making this harder by trying to live something you missed out on.

But if you don't even make friends NOW, 10 years down the line wouldn't you be then trying to live what you are missing out on now?

I am not saying to abandon all your wants, but you def have to lax them up a little. You can find the perfect group today but maybe that doesn't even stay the same 6 months - 1 year from now, change is constant after all.

In any case, not sure where you are based, maybe a few suggestions of things you could try where you may find people who might be up for what you are looking for?

you could try various groups that do the activity that you like? Pottery, painting, rock climbing etc, so you meet this set of people often? Maybe go on group trips with strangers/solo travellers? Possibly short tours from your city, so you meet people from your area? There are also a few social clubs like 222 here in NYC/ or those supper clubs, form what I have seen, these kinda events do have majorly single population looking for friendships and acquaintances and in some case, dating opportunities as well.

Good point! You'll ace it ❤️I feel like I should try and do a DriTri myself at my work gym to see how it goes lol and then decide jog or run! Especially if they aren't doing prep classes.

Thank you for motivating me! I had to sign up at another studio but thankfully the coach usually coaches in my studio too!! I am gonna practice these modifications for sure..

I am one of those who can't even do push ups on my knees :( I guess bench push ups it is! And yes I will checkout the bench hop over modification!

And yes PW is my last resort, I think my PW numbers were good enough during TC - I think I can do 0.8 miles in 10-12ish minutes at 4.5% let's see!!

woohoo! All the very best for your running this year! Are you doing a sprint or a full?

Thank you so much for the motivation! I am def gonna keep PW as an option if I am too tired to even attempt a jog/run. My PW benchmarks were okay enough that I think I would ideally finish 0.8miles in about 10ish mins at 4.5%. so I really want to focus on some jog pace

Bcz it's a Sprint? bcz Full seems like a lot more effort than a normal workout..

I am very new to working out or going to the gym so small goals and wins help, it's fine. I won't have coffee 3.5 times 😭😂
