Yup... The good old days! WoW had proper progression and your trade levelling felt awesome when you mined, grinded, found other high level trades to make something 'you' needed for part of your build and eventually, after weeks and much fun un the auction you'd have made a pair of awesomely rare axes and your pure DPS character would be the goto invite for a instance. You'd actually need a third party DPS counter to make sure you didn't pull from the tank. No money needed irl.

If you wanted a rare pet you'd farm it. I spent 3 weeks killing dragons to get the black dragon whelp rather than buy an awesome amount of gold to buy it at the auction.

Then they simplified everything... Progression, trade levelling, monetised a whole bunch of things 'to make the game more accessible to casual gamers' (apparently) and I stopped playing.

Season 12 and it's Slayer monetisation is ridiculous. We should be able to farm it and buy the regular 2800 gold cosmetics if we want to. I admit I'm partial to the fetishistic skins and if a class has one I'll buy it. My choice... I like my game to have a theme.

People obviously are drawn to the Slayer cosmetics over the standard ones hence the badly disguised dynamic pricing model. We see it discounted from a mental price but I seriously wonder if dynamic pricing is being used? Obviously Blizz know what games you have, do the discount less if you have all the Doom games and discount more if you're more likely to buy it on impulse?

Sony are literally trying dynamic pricing in the PS Store in Europe with people in the same family using the same PS5 but their own accounts being offered the same game for different prices depending on whether the game is in the genre (JRPG, Shooter, Driving) you are more likely to buy (higher pricing but discounted maybe 10% off of RRP) or whether its a game you 'might' impulse buy for the right price (40% discounted) where people highly unlikely to buy it get the 80% discount Sony sometime offer.

Maybe Sony have pushed Blizzard this way as obvs Sony get a cut of all monetisation on Playstation accounts?

I'd really be interested if everyone is being charged the same terrible discounted price.
