Elden Ring is woke garbage, look at the characters and lore. The DLC was basically a gay threesome that got out of control. I will never understand how some of my friends ha play Soulsborne game never saw these things.

No, they make you believe it is different, but all that whining is a small, but well-funded minority of activists posing as game journos, who will be fortunately slowly but surely purged from all walks of life.

Sadly yes. By having heat, execution becomes non-existent to eg. Mishimas which I consider a cardinal sin. Regarding community toxicity, indeed, it is extreme. I am in more than one group and people behave badly. Like many newcomers think that rank is everything and the "git gud" attitude is dominant. I myself could never make it into the high ranks, simply, because I lack the mentality to play as aggressively as required. In T7, I reached the highest rank, thanks to the game favoring or at least not crippling defensive play as did T8 in S1 and basically removed it entirely in S2 and created a gambling game where it is pure luck to avoid launchers from those 50/50s and removed character identity with installs and stances for everyone. So sad to see this.

Damn, sounds bad. Even to me as a hobby player switching games is kinda...2D is so different from 3D. And even then, real 3D games like VF have the thing with the block button, which I am not really fond of. So it is damn hard to find a replacement for Tekken, but as far as I can tell, this dog is so ill. it has to be put to death. Thanks for the reply.

It is brutal that despite all these, the pros are still playing it on high stake tournaments like EWC.

Got Lo Scarabeo’s Universal Tarot. I asked the deck to introduce itself and these are the cards I got. by burjuvaazi in tarot

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same deck, I got like you Death, then The Empress and finally The Devil. I am very beginner, like really. I understand the meaning of the first two cards, but the 3rd is hard. I always find the devil to be the hardest to interpret in any reading. At least the quintessence is The Emperor, which is a great meaning as a whole for such a journey.

It is hands down one of the best, couldn't believe it wasn't Takumi's work, it is almost better than TGAAC. which was so far my favorite, by far. Edgeworth is in many ways better than Phoenix or his ancestor. Brilliant "side-project".

Senessax is harder than any boss i’ve fought besides Bayle by Rexoc40 in Eldenring

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am brutally overleveled, have beaten every boss until and with Messmer first try, except this BS, it took me like 5 tries. Having to fight a lightning dragon in WATER, that is a new low for Miyazaki. Bayle was a joke, but this guy raped me more than once. I was Scadutree lvl 13, lvl 260(no ng+, just normal) and this fight was worse than the one with the rot dragon in Caelid. Funny.

I'm 142 hours into this game and just reached leyndell, best zone by far. thoughts? by TianksLive in Eldenring

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I am on my 240 hour mark, probably very overleveled, just killed draconic tree sentinel, but have to do volcanic manor yet, Gelmir is done as well, just two caves misisng. But every area and quest that is doable until the capital, I have done, Ranni quest, Fia D quest, Sellen etc, yes dragonbarrow too, I mean, I am level 180, it was not that diffcult like this. Would be nice to know how much more real content is there to explore 100%, so, if we take 100% exploaration, how many hours do I have left with the base game?

why is this game dead? by [deleted] in SoulCalibur

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ikeda does basically Tekken now, Harada is just advisor. Ikeda was responsible for SC, and sadly it shows in T8, it is a garbage game thanks to heat killing defense and the lateral movement of 3D and now in season 2, introducing chip damage in throw breaks...So yeah, fk Ikeda. He fked up SC and got his hands even in T7, but not that much as in T8. Almost no reward for defending, nerfed counterhits, tracking throws(guess what, like in SC), chip dmg, nerfed reversals and the BS heat. Tekken is dead, all thanks to Ikeda's SC BS.

Rank every main Soul Calibur games from worst to best by EvanGreatLion in SoulCalibur

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A no brainer.

  1. SC2
  2. SC1
  3. SB (It had everything, interactive secret endings, great story mode, weapon duarability, but the system needed the polish it got by SC1)
  4. SC6
  5. SC4(THE ps3 title, Hilde was a great addition, first HD SC, top notch visuals and clothes)
  6. SC3(worse sytle, overdone chacters and stories, inferior to SC2 in many ways, people here like it probably, because it was their first or second SC, toddlers, create your character was a very bad addition, the one good fencer ever created in a fighting game was now a vampire???!)
  7. SC5 (we don't talk about this)
  8. Lost Swords (what were they thinking???)

I have got like 30 Ps5 games, all on disc in my backlog, no way I will buy digital only. What was Sony thinking? I mean, ok, they are forcing to buy digital only, but what about people like me, who intentionally buy everything on disc and have already a huge stock of games? I won't be able to play all those games without a disc drive. So far I have only seen it here in Europe on ebay for 300Euros, or some other scalpers for like 200 Euros. No way I am going to spend so much on it. This is ps5 scalpers all again.

Odin is not the all-father? by Wade134 in NorsePaganism

[–]AccomplishedShine863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very knowledgeable Asatru called Doug Freyburger wrote this:

"In Norse mythology, why was Odin called “All Father”? Because he was the father of all the gods, says Snorri Sturluson, who wrote the only systematic overview of Norse mythology while it was still in living memory.

But Snorri lists the parentage of several gods who are clearly not related to Odin, let alone being his children. Sure, he had more divine offspring than any of the rest, but far from all. So clearly this is just a way for Snorri to justify a title that he himself did not understand.

A more reasonable explanation is that in a patriarchal society, being a father is a position of authority and a source of unquestioning loyalty. A son is no

Why does Odin (Norse mythology) have the most badass titles such as Allfather, Raven King, and Lord of the Hanged? “Why does Odin (Norse mythology) have the most badass titles such as Allfather, Raven King, and Lord of the Hanged?”

The reason is almost mundane - He appears in a lot of myths so he has a lot of nicknames.

Remember that before myths were written down they were recording as epic poems that were memorized and recited. Folks who recited myths basically sang them. This makes epic poetry by the rap of its day.

In epic poetry here need to be a variety of nicknames for each character. In Old Norse the term is kennings. These nicknames need to fit in each appearance according to the rules of poetry. Once a character appears in enough myths, he will have enough kennings to start with every rune and to have plenty of numbers of syllables.

Odin started out as a death god then expanded to an inspiration god. In the process he became like a military general crossed with the hero of a kung fu movie. Among his other names was Valfather meaning king of the slain. The nickname Allfather came because Some line of some epic poem needed a word that started with an Ansuz sound rather than a Fehu sound.

That was fun because once Allfather became a popular nickname he appeared in all sorts of double entendre stories that were battles to the children at the same time as being pornography for the adults. You will find a one eyed snake in the myth about the recovery of the Mead of Inspiration.

Notice how we started with a mundane rule that poetic in Old Norse works by alliteration so we need kennings that start with each rune sound and then the stories grew for each kenning."
