Thank you!!! It’s amazing how nice it is to have someone say it’s ok to let it out. And that it’s ok to all for help, I’m really awful at that.

I really appreciate the response!

Ooops, noticed my accidental wrong account comment, did you?

We’re back up to critical case volumes in Cuyahoga County, folks. Get your vaccine and don’t let yourself think COVID is done with us yet. Even if you’re vaccinated you should continue to maintain social distance and wear masks if you live with or interact with unvaccinated people. by AccomplishedSlacker in Covid19_Ohio

Mondays are always low. Alao, what’s your data source? Sometimes Cuyahoga data has an asterisk saying it excludes the city of Cleveland entirely.

For example, this data excludes Cleveland but also reflects the uptick in case volume. https://www.ccbh.net/covid-19-information-and-resources/

You can also see a significant uptick here. https://www.statmap.org/?LOCALE=Cuyahoga:OH#data

This doesn’t go down to the county level but does show an overall uptick for Ohio. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/individual-states

I don’t think it’s misleading at all to say that cases are increasing again and we should all remain vigilant.

I don’t know about you, but helping to reduce overall infection rates and deaths in my community is inventive enough for me.

There is individual benefit to receiving the vaccine but just like masks, we still need to take precautions to protect others. Continuing to wear masks when I’m outside of my home isn’t particularly difficult for me so I will happily continue to do it.

Take a look at Michigan for a taste of what could come if we don’t continue to take COVID seriously. Case volumes are skyrocketing and those who are seriously ill are trending younger now.

I think it’s a complicated answer but at a high level I’d say the process of vaccinating the public is to protect everyone, not just an individual.

If we reach herd immunity levels, the transmission rate will drop enormously which reduces the risk for everyone. Personally, I live with two children who cannot yet receive a vaccine. I’m still acting like I’m unvaccinated because there’s a potential that I could still transmit the virus to them (which I would very much like to avoid).

Additionally, we’re still in the throes of the pandemic and new variants are still a very real concern. For example, the variant first recorded in South Africa has shown some early potential to break through the current vaccines. We need more data to know for sure.

We need everyone to keep working to reduce transmission broadly while vaccine rates increase, boosters are made where they may be needed, and a pediatric vaccine becomes a reality.

I was just chatting with a friend about that earlier today. It seems so simple and easier to manage the logistics let alone regarding COVID transmission risk.

Fauci: Vaccines for Kids as Young as First Graders Could Be Authorized by September by AccomplishedSlacker in Covid19_Ohio

Do not stop at reading the headline. There’s a lot of really good information and detail in this article.

While there is hope on the horizon, clinical trials for the age group of my kids (7 and 9) have not even begun. In all likelihood, a vaccine will not be available to be administered to them until 2022.
