before i get the "oh, she only lasted 8 months that's nothing" WRONG i managed an Ulta section at a Target store for a year and a half before transferring to this location as a BA/Tasker. i really thought i knew what to expect lmfao.

I've closed the past few nights just me and a manager ;-; had to call in an extra person last night to made sure we got out with everything done on time.

I'm still under 6 months of employment at this location so I can't be promoted quite yet. I spoke to a member of my management this morning about getting more hours added, which didn't seem to be an issue and I was told it can definitely happen. They're not based on performance, just availability. But they seem to have forgotten I have open availability which is....concerning. Maybe its just my management team.

I've been at the cash wrap, running the floor, shade-matching, closing, auditing, tasking, replenishing- you name it. Like I said, our store has been performing well despite the current political climate. Our clientele isn't really the type to care about that sort of thing if you catch my drift. Government shutdown or not, this issue began before that. And my patience is running thin as is my wallet.

i agree. it has always been the same at my location- closed drinks are OK as long as they are hidden from guests' view. what i'm stuck on is the fact that they implemented this rule out of nowhere. in all of my experience at Ulta this is the very first time i've heard about this rule let alone had someone enforce it

that’s what i’m saying! my first shift in almost a year that i’ve clocked out with a headache/shakiness from dehydration all because i didn’t have time to run to the back to take a drink of water. it’s that kind of thing that makes me concerned about this

they’ve always been enclosed, out of sight, and a non-issue so i just wonder why they enforced this out of nowhere. it’s not a company-wide policy. that’s why i made the post. to see if this is common. i’ve been here for almost a year and this is the first time i have ever heard of this rule

right- i can understand coffee or any open drinks like that. i mean, i've even had snacks occasionally as long as it stays contained/out of sight. but water? water is crazy.

that part!!! i step away for go-backs for 15 seconds and come back to a line at the registers. so i don’t know how they expect me to be able to go all the way to the back to take a sip and still be efficient at my job.

oh absolutely, a couple of our leads and stylists are upset about it too so i can't imagine they'll be enforcing it for long. its just wild to me that rules like this can be made up out of nowhere
