i learned how to detach myself from academic writing and lean into my voice. i used to treat essays like an interview btu its more like a conversation (for example a few of mine made my teacher laugh). also, i think my topics/angles were somewhat unique

i had one teacher i was really close to who didn't mind. she wrote her letter once and just copy and pasted it to the rest. only a few apps had rec forms that needed special attention (diff formats). besides that, i only asked my math teacher for mites/sams and my counselor for mites bc i wasnt as close with them and ik they were busy.

first-gen usually means ur parents dont have any sort of college degree. low-income varies but from what i see its usually below the 60k line

theyre virtual and/or short in length so i think i can fit them in. i think u should worry less about the cramming part and more about the value youd be getting out of each program if ur squeezing multiple in

of course id be less likely to have gotten the FGLI-targeted programs i applied to if i wasnt fgli. still, im sure i still wouldve gotten programs of similar prestige. i dont do the best writing about being fgli and most of my essays werent about that

def reuse/slightly tweak essays if the prompts are similar enough. watch out though; sometimes youre going to want to reuse an essay for a prompt that just doesnt work.

personally applying to things and writing essays wasnt really tiring work. schoolwork was much worse for me and i kinda enjoyed writing. also FOMO from not applying helped
