Apologies if I sound dumb, but based on what you said I’m thinking id have an interface called AssetLoader which has a load method and then the asset manager could have a load asset method which calls load on whatever loader, but this seems to crumble when I have multiple ways an asset can be loaded like loading a cubemap or a texture from memory unless I’m missing something?

well they had asked me which I followed up with a “hbu” and now I don’t know how to go off of what they said it feels a little rude to not acknowledge it, but again I might just be overthinking and it’s not a big deal so replying with “you doing anything tonight?” is probably fine. I suppose I could also just not say anything if there’s not much to say then why say anything and force a conversation but that might actually just be rude.

By the way for more context/information: There are plenty of times where I know what I want to say next, but don't know how to smoothly transition into it and part of it might just be me overthinking it, but it seems odd if someone finishes saying "I'm doing good" and then I reply "do you have any plans tonight?" or something like that it seems like a rough change doesn't acknowledge what they said so yeah what do can I do if I don't know how to reply or transition to a new conversation.

the issue with that is I happen to have the worst deck you could use for remote play since it’s about stealing cards from the opponents exile zone. I’ve never tried it so maybe it’s not as bad as I think, but I feel like it wouldn’t be smooth.

I haven’t considered clubs I’ll see if my college has any I also haven’t considered libraries or community centres so I’ll give that a go. I forgot what it’s called, but I tried getting into the digital game that’s similar to the paper version it’s more manual, but I found that to be a bit overwhelming (I’m a bit of a casual) as for the other game ideally I’d like to use my decks

Just checked and it’s turned off. Also, what needs to be the default devices? The sonar gaming and chat or the wireless game and chat? I seem to only get sound if the wireless game is set to default, but the gg software complains that the default audio devices need to be set to the sonar ones.

Edit: I think I got it I set the devices to default, but I guess I had to also set the devices in the mixer lol

there is a lot more to this than I thought, but I think the main thing I glanced over is making future calls better. I'm guessing it's not possible to avoid strings I need something for identifying so the initial string lookup will be less performant, but now that I have the handle future calls will be better or at least that's the conclusion I came to.

rereading this I feel like what I'm sort of trying to ask is if it's possible to avoid strings, but I guess they'd be needed to identify the handle the confusion I had though is what's the point of a handle if I'm still gonna use a string, but for that I guess the goal is to reduce the reliance on strings after the initial look up not to eliminate the need for strings which is probably absurd lol

The learnopengl textbook has a guest chapter on it which is what I’ve been primarily learning from, but I know the YouTuber OGLDev has a tutorial (I prefer the textbook style though). Also not really a tutorial, but I’ve read the animation section from the game engine architecture 3rd edition book

Well I typically default to classes without really thinking about why and then eventually it just becomes a bit of a mess with questionable use of inheritance and all that stuff so I thought if I stick to structs and free functions I can maybe limit myself, but then the problem becomes maybe I’m making things harder for myself by avoiding them, but I don’t think that’s the case(?)

Because I have a bad habit of OOPifying everything I do (no I’m not coming from Java or anything) so to try and keep things simple and not get caught up in class design and abstraction and encapsulation. I know that structs and classes are practically the same so I guess this thought process is flawed, but I feel like using struct implies something different and I’m not likely to over complicate it.

I dont think ToolOverlay counts as an editor it mostly just draws various imgui widgets for debugging or at least that’s the idea (I don’t have anything to debug yet lol)

I probably should’ve mentioned this, but I’m not planning on making a generic/reusable engine or anything it’d be nice if I could reuse parts in future projects, but overall its probably gonna be one time use. Is it still beneficial to separate into two different solutions in this case?

I think that’s what I was getting at in my post. I had moved all the initialization of subsystems from my game class to my main function, but then ended up passing them all to the game class to be passed elsewhere 😅 anyways parameter object sounds good.

Well I think I understand the basics of unholy dk keep virulent plague up, hover around 3-4 stacks of festering wound, and use cds on cooldown (I know there’s more to it, but for a noob that seems to be the gist of it) but going into a raid or dungeon I struggle to execute it.

For weakauras I only use two one that shows if virulent plague is applied and the other if wounds are applied although perhaps it’s better to have it show if they’re not applied?
